Overall, simple menu and standard Italian fare. But go for the antipasto salad. It is one of the best I have ever had. The sausage in the salad makes it.

We visited La Scala with relatives. This restaurant had a previous life as the Captain Williams House. There is a bar area with bar seating and tables with several TV's plaing different channels. There is also a separate section with more traditional dining, which itself is divided into two sections. The menu selection is rather broad. This restaurant apparently has an Italian leaning, but the menu also includes standard meat and fish dishes.

One of us had baked pork and described it as one of the best pork dinnners he had had in some time. Another had steamed muscles and thought that they were very good. I had a cup of clam chowder (a good thing to try on Cape Cod to test the restaurant) and it was quite good with a broth that was thick, but not gooey, plenty of clams and a nice strong clam flavor. The house salad was chopped, but quite substantial in content with typical fresh greens. Two of us had baked fish (one scrod, one cod). The scrod was supposed to come with a bread crumb and basil sauce, but seemed to be simply bread crumbs. The other came as described with bread crumbs. Both were nicely cooked, perhaps a bit more cooked than I like, but quite good, and not at all dry. Most dinners come with a side of pasta (which may be the Italian part), which we found to be very ordinary. It can come with simplle red sauce or garlic and oil. We found the red sauce to be very ordinary and the same description applies to the pasta. The pasta rating pulls down the overall rating.

This restaurant gives the feeling of being a little bit tired, but the server was very pleasant, and the food was reasaonable. The descritpion is termed reaswonable because the fare was for the most part ratehr routine and what you would expect from a reasonable place.

I had a resturant.com cert. to this place so we tried it. It was worth the price we paid! The food was good and the service was good as well. It is an italian resturant and the chicken parm, alfedo fettacinni and steak was really good! I usually use steak sauce however,t he steak was so tender I didnt even ask for the steak sauce!

We discovered this restaurant through Restaurant.com and now it has become one of our favorites. The place is set in a quaint area and looks to be a transformed old house. The service is both friendly and casual.

The homemade bread and salad make a great start to the meal. The house italian dressing is excellent. The eggplant parmesan is the benchmark as far as I am concerned. I have not tried anything else on the menu since this is so good!

I would recommend this restaurant for people that are passionate about italian food but don't want all of the "pomp and seriousness" of some places or the routine of Olive Garden.

Can't wait to go back!
