The Breakers on the Ocean
Ranked #12 of 19 Hotels in Dennis Port
Reviewed April 29, 2012

I booked through Hotwire and got a good price for off season. We had a room overlooking the pool, which of course was not open (outside pool) There are 2 different buildings, even though we had an "Ocean Front Room" it really wasnt on the ocean it was beside the pool. In order to go to the ocean from here, you had to walk all the way around the building and back up the parking lot to walk down a large set of stairs to get to the beach. It is tight on the beach, and there is clearly owner wars going on, with respect to guests using beach rights so beware! Do not walk over to the right of the property (facing the beach) CHECK OUT TIME IS 10:00, very early. There is no indoor pool but you do have rights to use the pool at Tidewater another hotel up the street, but when we went to check it out, it was not to our liking. When we went in the front to show the desk clerk our key, there was a Nasty sewer smell. The pool was glass enclosed and it just didnt look that clean. The courtyard that faced it reminded me of a welfare project or something, not sure if people actually lived there. Needless to say , we left. Back at the "RESORT" I dont know if I would call it a resort at all but it does have sister time share places in other states. The desk clerks were nice, and would help you if they could. The room we had overlooked the pool, had a jacuzzi tub in the corner opposite the dining table, ya odd, but hey, they tried. The corner fireplace is nice, and great for the off season for cuddling. There is a stocked kitchenette, the bathroom is small but clean. Beware of the trim on the floors, it was a pain, and kept stubbing toes on it. There was a pull out sofa, but the mattress was so thin, dont think anyone could sleep on it. I just made up the couch and daughter slept on the cushions without pulling it out. The bed was soft, but again clean. In the summer months, people walking by your window to go the pool would be a pain. Also they can just look right into your window, you could just use the windows to climb out into the pool. We didnt even use the beach there, we just drove up the street where it was easier to access the beach. Dennisport is a tourist trap, great to keep everyone happy. Shopping , and the playland for the kids is great. There is minature golf, go karts, batting cages, soccer cages, and a place to hit out the golf balls. The arcade is clean and the machines looked fun, although when we were there we were invaded by a school trip. Back at the hotel, the parking is very tight. They have a couple of handicap spots, but the location is strange, close up to the office. The driveway in and out is only one lane, and in the Summer I just cant fathom how that works out well. There are places to eat, even in off season. There is a place that has seafood and ice cream not far. The food was greasy for me, but the soft serve was amazing, and they had so many differnt flavors...YUM. They have a 3 ring binder in the room, with information on the area, and places to eat.

Room Tip: If you want an ocean room, make sure its really ON the ocean. Ask for the building to the left, faci...

Dennisport was not my first choice for a stay in Cape Cod but everything was full so we decide to try this little resort right on the beach and were not disappointed. The rooms first, they are beautiful, get one with ocean view if you can, it is well worth it. The rooms are spacious, they include a little sitting area with a TV and a chimney and an other area with a table and a nice jaccuzi. The beach itself is long and nice and I would recommend visiting during the off season like I did. We also went to dinner in one of the local restaurant and were delighted by the food and the service. Beautiful and very friendly area!

Room Tip: Ocean view room have a great view and a jaccuzi

Nice timesheet located next to the beach. Was greeted by staff upon arrival. Room was equipped w/ all necessary anemities. The town near the resort is small and quiet. Many of the restaurants listed in the guest services book were closed down...maybe seasonal. Overall good stay.

We found this place two years ago when we booked a room at another nearby place that disappointed us so much that we bailed. The front desk was accommodating and our stay was great. So when we decided to go back for a second time, we contacted them to book a room. This process took months and months because they weren't organized enough to be able to give us a room and confirm where and when something was available. Once the reservation was finally complete, we were happy... until check-out. At check-out they said the room was more than what they quoted to us, we then showed them the e-mail confirmation and they gave us the rate that they originally quoted.
Enough negative comments.
The property is very nice and clean. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The location is great, it's on the beach and there is a park within walking distance behind the property. We will continue to try to go back, and hopefully booking our room will become easier.

Room Tip: The loft rooms over the office are great for families.

A quiet weekend to the Cape was the plan of the weekend. Had never been and hoped we would have a great time. We did!
The Breakers made the perfect rest stop for all activities. Day trips were easy to do from The Breakers as were walks along the beach. Nearby restaurants were easily accessed and the people were great (La Scala Italian restaurant/bar-thanks!).
The unit we had was ocean front: two bedrooms with a kitchen/eating area, master bed, living space, indoor garden tub and outdoor deck - all faced the ocean. Couldn't have asked for better views (esp. sunrise!) and ocean sounds as a constant backdrop.
The staff was pleasant and housekeeping staff do a great job with the units and the property.
Thanks The Breakers!

There are a wonderful assortment of things to do that are near to the Breakers. The Kreme & Kone Restaurant, The Sundae School ice cream, and downtown Harwich and Chatham. The staff is very attentive and all our needs were taken care of. We have been back six years in a row.

We bought our timeshare 6 years ago. Out of the past 6 years we have used our time during Christmas. We travel to different places each year. This was the first year that our experience was terrible. I spoke with Raye (manager) on three different occasions. I explained to her that our daughter, her husband and baby would be joining us. She assured me that we would have the following: two rooms with queen bed, crib, view over looking the ocean and balcony. When we arrived they said "our" room did Not have heat but there was a room ready for us and the heat would be fixed the next day and we could move. Here is what we got: one queen bed, two twins,no crib,no ocean view and no balcony. The next day the front desk told me that "our" room would not be fixed. I said, "Raye has known for over a week when we were arriving why wasn't the heater fixed ahead of time?" The girl at the front desk said, " we didn't promise you anything." I said, "Raye gave me her word I would hope that would be good enough." well, it wasn't and we never received what was told to me. They really just didn't care. I would the that the manager's word would be sufficient.....but not in this case. Huge disappointment
