Scargo Manor Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #6 of 15 Dennis B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 9, 2008

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Scargo Manor B&B in Dennis, MA. which is on Cape Cod. I have stayed in many B&B's over the years and this one outshines the rest by miles.
The home is an equisitely appointed victorian sea captain's house set on 2+ acres with a large lake in the backyard. There is ample parking, boats and bikes at your disposal, a lovely screened porcch as well as a large deck to enjoy. Eachroom is beautifully decorated and everything is spotless. Not a dust bunny to be found anywhere. The manor is within walking distance of beaches, restaurants, and entertainment.
The owners/operators of Scargo Manor are as special as the surroundings. Their breakfasts are scrumptious, their manor welcoming, and their knowledge of the area enable them to help each guest customize an itinerary that will please any age group.
Anyone planning a trip to the Cape would be making a huge mistake if they didn't stay at Scargo Manor.
Check out the website at www.scargomanor.com. It's even better in person.

I have to disagree with all of the previous reviews. I thought the only good thing about the Scargo Manor was the location--everything else was sub par. The decor is tacky and outdated, the room was tiny and unbelievably hot. I was willing to let all that slide but then we noticed the sheets were dirty and the bathroom looked as though it hadn't been cleaned. As a well seasoned traveller who has stayed in a lot of different places on the Cape, I would not recommend this one at all.

We just returned from our 2nd stay at Scargo Manor and fell in love with it all over again!! The Inn Keepers/ownwers, Debbie and Larry, are so pleasant, accommodating and resourceful. They are a wealth of knowledge of Cape Cod and about Dennis, in particular. The Inn is very well maintained and the grounds are spectacular, with lovely gardens and a beach front on Scargo Lake. We have stayed in 2 different suites and enjoyed them both. The rooms are sparkling clean and decorated very nicely, with private bathrooms and lots of amenities you would expect only at a hotel/motel (iron/board, fridge, hairdryer, toiletries). The breakfasts are always different and gourmet, with Debbie trying new recipes constantly. Debbie and Larry obviously both love what they are doing and do it well!!
Having vacationed for over 25 years in rented cottages in Dennis with our family, Scargo Manor provides us a different way to "escape to the Cape" for a quiet weekend for two! We can't wait to return again.

This is one of the best places to stay on Cape Cod, small, spotless with a real personal touch. One of the great things is it is on a lovely lake, that is great for swimming & kayaking, & the boats are provided free of charge. Excellent breakfast, & Debbie & Larry are a goldmine of information about out of the way places to eat, & walk, with an excellent Tapas restaurant just five minutes walk. We love it.

For anyone from the UK who is thinking of a New England trip and a visit to Cape Cod the location of this former sea captain's home could not be bettered. Ideally placed for beautiful local Beaches, ( Mayflower is nice and has amenities)Golf, interesting local shops you will also find a wide variety of Restaurants to suit your pocket and appetite !
The house stands directly on Route 6A (The old King's Highway) but is set back in extensive grounds with ample parking and leading to its own frontage on Scargo Lake. There is a jetty and boats are available. So, too, are Bikes if you fancy cycling along some of the traffic-free trails on the Cape. Add to this Beach chairs and towels you are nicely fixed for an enjoyable day !
All rooms at the Inn are clean and comfortable and at a range of prices which include Breakfast. This is served at your own table and includes a hot course of the day.
Innkeepers Larry & Debbie Bain are both welcoming, considerate yet unobtrusive hosts genuinely keen to help guests relax and enjoy their visit. They have all the information you need to help with Dining choices and what you need to know to visit other places on the Cape. For this we recommend that visitors have either their own or a hire car available.
This Inn and its owners seem to have established a growing number of returning guests of which we are two more ! Its open year-round too. Enjoy !

Our first time at a B&B and it was a wonderfully enjoyable stay. The hosts are very personable and friendly and welcome their guests into their house. Their house and guest rooms are extremely well maintained and comfortable with quite a few areas to sit, read, have conversations, and relax. The hostess comes up with a different delicious breakfast everyday. They offer suggestions on places to go including local restaurants. A lake in the back with plenty of fish to go after, so pack your fishing rods! (they have boats and canoes for your use). Not far from local beaches on the inside part of the Cape.

We will surely be back to visit again!

My husband and I were looking for a quaint romantic bed and breakfast as a get away for a week. We were very fortunate in finding it all at Scargo Manor.
It is a charming home on a lovely lake within walking distance of the hamlet town of Dennis. The rooms were clean and decorated with taste. The food was always goumet and delicious. As a matter of fact I asked for several of the recipes and Debbie emailed me them. I especially liked her apple custard pancake accompanied with cooked honey cinnamon bananas. It was out of this world!
My husband and I enjoyed just laying on the Hammock outside by the lake or taking a boat on the lake, which was free. Our hosts were very helpful when we needed advice or directions. Scargo Manor certainly surpassed our expectations and we can't wait to make a another trip there!
