This is a great chance to see some of the lesser shown and Indy movies as well as Live at the Met. The cinema itself, part of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts, is a little rough for wear. It was clean but sure could use a major restoration.
Go for the movies and ignore the surroundings (lights are off most of the time anyway!)

The Cape Cinema was built in 1930. It often features movies that are showing at the mall cinemas. Occasionally, they are foreign films with subtitles. They're always great choices. Discounts are offered for senior citizens as well as the availability to purchase passes where you save money on each visit. There is a charming counter for popcorn, etc. The Cape Cinema is famous for its beautiful mural that is on the high ceilings. This was also done in 1930. The seats are not as comfortable as in some of the newer theaters but you will love the vintage feel of this very historic cinema. Located in Dennis Village on Cape Cod. http://www.capecinema.com/about.html

We went to see 20 Feet From Stardom. Great movie, sound system excellent, and theatre a reminder of the past with the old fashions curtain opening. Chairs are funky. Fun time.

Cape Cinema gets this cinephile through the long winters and hot summers. The absolute best indie and off-beat main release films, as well as Britain's National Theatre and Opera live streams. Occasional live music. Go up to the balcony for an old time cinema experience. Popcorn is cheap and fresh, plenty of parking.

This wonderful, historic theatre premiered the Wizard of Oz in 1939 and was built only about 10 years before that, showing silent films until talkies made their way into the mainstream media..Today, the theatre is run as an art house film destination where one can see foreign documentaries and films and independent films that dont play in mainstream theaters...As a local ,I used to come here every week where films were shown that I never would have seen...A wonderful gem of a place and one of my favorites on the Cape...The bathrooms are original to the late 20 style and the matinee food and drink area is reminiscent of the old time theaters..
