This wonderful, historic theatre premiered the Wizard of Oz in 1939 and was built only about 10 years before that, showing silent films until talkies made their way into the mainstream media..Today, the theatre is run as an art house film destination where one can see foreign documentaries and films and independent films that dont play in mainstream theaters...As a local ,I used to come here every week where films were shown that I never would have seen...A wonderful gem of a place and one of my favorites on the Cape...The bathrooms are original to the late 20 style and the matinee food and drink area is reminiscent of the old time theaters..

They have a different lineup of movies than does the average theatre, with indies, and foreign films, etc. the prices are right and you can become a member to save on each movie. Lots of parking and late afternoon shows available for after work.

The Cape Cinema is a good way to spend a rainy day on the Cape. Easy to get to, new releases, clean and fun.

This 1930 cinema house is a perfect place to enjoy a movie. You will fall in love with the Art Decor interior. Pointed out to us by our friends, is the lovely 6400 sq. ft. mural by Rockwell Kent.

The seats are very comfortable and the screen is very large with great audio.

Plan to enjoy your next movie at Cape Cinema!

P.S. Make reservations for dinner after a movie at the Scargo Cafe which is right across the street from the Cinema.
