Description: Fin,chef owned and located in the heart of Dennis Village, serves creative, contemporary seafood and more. We feature the best in locally sourced food including oysters from Dennis and produce, in season, from numerous farms across the Cape like CapeAbilities, Surrey Farm and Cape Cod Organics. We are on 6A in a 200 plus year old house with dining up and downstairs and conveniently next door to the Cape Playhouse complex. The menu changes seasonally to showcase the areas offerings and while our focus is primarily on seafood we also offer organic beef and poultry.

When we visit the Cape, we really want to take advantage of fresh seafood and Fin is the ideal spot for that. I am hard to please on chowders and their homemade oyster chowder is outstanding - also the crab cake with black truffle pecorino is fantastic. Salmon, swordfish, day boat scallops, bouillabaisse - the entree choices are just what we were looking for. And nothing is fried or comes with french fries - what a relief from the usual seafood restaurant fare! If you want high end seafood carefully prepared with helpful and attentive service, Fin is the place to go.
Tip-
Don't be reluctant to sit in the small bar area at the high tops or at the bar. Service there is just as good as the rest of the restaurant, just a little more casual. Do reserve ahead - we tried 5 days in advance for a Saturday night and could not get in.

The food is outstanding, but on a recent visit the air conditioning was way overdone, to the point of distracting from the excellent food and service. We were upstairs and perhaps the frequent up and down the stairs for the waitstaff braces them for the climate, but our table and others had folks of both genders wishing they had dressed for fall not summer....

My husband and I went to Fin based on the reviews I'd read on Trip Advisor, and they were right! The restaurant is an intimate, white-tablecloth space with tables upstairs and downstairs - I think it's part of an old house. Definitely make a reservation - the hostess seemed relieved that we had one. You can make it online, which I did on the day we wanted to go, and was able to get a table for 2 at 6:30.

Our server was competent but not especially personable, but the ambiance and food made up for it. We both had the baby arugula salad to start, and then I had the Grilled Garlic-Thyme Shrimp with a polenta cake, oven-dried tomatoes, and garlicky spinach. The shrimp were done perfectly and the polenta cake was creamy inside its browned triangular shell, but I think my favorite part was the spinach and tomatoes - something about its wonderful flavors tasted like I was eating winter, which was a fun surprise in late July! My husband had a fish special, and we ended our meal by sharing a vanilla panna cotta with berry sauce.

The flavors were delicate and the cozy atmosphere inviting. Highly recommended.

While we loved the previous restaurant in this space, we were delighted by our experience at this new iteration. "Fin" is still something of a rarity on the cape....a place specializing in seafood that is creatively prepared and seasoned, a far cry from the frying still proliferating in most local restaurants. The atmosphere is as fresh as the cuisine, and the owner/staff are accommodating and attentive. Its proximity to both the Cape Cinema and Playhouse also don't hurt, and its popularity is growing by the moment.

This is the best spot we've found for fresh, local fish, excellently prepared in a great variety of ways. The place is for adults - intimate and quiet - which makes it great for a tete-a-tete. The wine list is well-thought-out. It's small, so reserve well in advance.
