Fairfield Inn Boston Dedham
Ranked #4 of 4 Hotels in Dedham

The hotel is not off a major street and its two completely seperate buildings with the parking in the middle. The day we arrived there where "just painted" signs everywhere. So the smell was very strong. Also, unlike the pictures on their website, it is a newly renovated hotel with very strong signs of it. They have new decor but everything is very old and dingy. The restroom is horrible! Extremely small- wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. The latch on the toilet was broken, there where hairs, the shower curtain moldy-just disgusting for it to be a Marriott. Very dirty everywhere. Not family friendly- there where men outside smoking and cussinga very late at night. On the upside, the hotel staff was nice- not a deal breaker for me though. We had a 2 night reservation but ended up canceling our 2nd night and moving hotels.

We only spent one night at this hotel, We found the room to be spacious, clean and the bed comfortable. Our only complaint was that the hotel is built on several levels, with some rooms a half floor above or below others. Perhaps there were elevators available but due to the late hour, we just carried our luggage up and down the stairs. Ramps would have been nice.

The complimentary breakfast the following morning was nice. It consisted of the usual all-carbohydrate fare (cereals, toast, bagels, English muffins, muffins plus coffee, tea, and juices). Very adequate for us cold cereal eaters.

We found the staff at check-in to be friendly and able to answer our questions. The room rate ($127 + tax) was the most expensive of the six hotels we stayed in this trip but maybe that was due to the Boston influence where we think everything is overpriced.

I suppose it wasn't the worst but certainly not your typical Fairfield Inn. The staff was friendly and accomodating so that's a plus. I just found the room quite small especially the bathroom. I was traveling with my mom and we weren't on any time constraints but it could really be chaotic for let's say two women on a business trip, or a family with a bathroom that small. Although the interiors of the rooms are attractively updated, they are incongruous with the yellow dank hallways. Evidently it used to be a Comfort Inn and the transformation is not yet complete. Apart from the decor, despite getting a room far from the interstate side, it was rather noisy with highway sounds, probably because they don't have double-paned windows. Finding an ant in the bedsheet and another in the bath towel was not a welcome surprise. This important revelation was difficult to convey to the maid who thought I just wanted more towels but I think the front desk agent understood. Another odd thing was that I asked for an extra blanket and spread since there was only a blanket and sheet on one bed and only a sheet and spread on the other. They promptly brought the items to the room shortly after I requested them. It was just before we were going out for the day so I assumed they would use them to make the bed. But they were just folded up as delivered when we came back. Oh well. It's okay if you don't mind ants and interstate noises but I don't recommend it!

This hotel is a bit weird in a way that its two separated buildings and some rooms have exterior doors directly in the parking lot, and that the staff here seems very questionable. The pool was very clean however there were no towels in the pool area on two different occasions. Our room had a fantastic view of a dirty alley which an air conditioning unit was placed. Our room was very smelly im not really sure where the smell was coming from but it was pretty bad. Almost as if the carpet had gotten wet and moldy. Inside the hotel is a Italian Restaurant called Vinny T"s we did not go here but it didn't seem to be that good place was empty all night. Breakfast was decent, they are the first hotel that ive stayed at which offers Jimmy Dean microwaveable Breakfast sandwiches. Also Beware that the door from the pool area back into the hotel corridor sometimes jams and you have to keep swiping your card and keep playing with the lock to get in, don't panic just keep trying.

I dont think ill be staying at this hotel again.

They use an outsourced internet provider. Google.com (and all other pages for that matter) 15-20 seconds to load. Front desk gave me support number, who told me this is typical, and there is no issue as long as I can connect. When I told him this wasn't suitable for business users, he asked me how much I'm paying for the service (meaning, it's free). Showed the front-desk manager and she didn't know and didn't care. I left and checked into the Residence Inn next store. All was well.

The hotel in itself is nicely looked after. Typical Fairfield set-up, but everything looks very new and kept nicely. The staff is a bit iffy -- at check in, we asked for a connecting room and were given rooms next to each other that connected to the opposite neighboring rooms (no big deal, we managed); during breakfast, we asked the front desk whether there were high chairs available, and were told "No" -- only to find out later in the day that they were available and stored in the hallway.
A bit pricier than I would have expected for a Fairfield and for the location, but, the accommodations were fairly comfortable and up-to-date.

Stayed here 1 nite after moving our Daughter into a local college...Was generally pleased. courteous staff..no problems with room...The room seemed small 2 double beds, desk and 2 chairs, large flat screen TV on a dresser. seperate sink vanity outside the smallest hotel bathroom ( toilet and tub).

We stay at alot of these hotels that include a breakfast and Fairfield inn ranks in the lower half as far as bkfst offerings..They have make your own waffles, Jimmy dean sandwhiches that you nuke and some carb options.. Went next door to the Marriott residence inn where we had friends staying.( didn't eat there)...their free breakfast seemed outstanding...full hot buffett and with more varied carb and fruits, even a vat of hot oatmeal....

Anyway the location was convenient to stores and restaurants all within a couple of miles. A large shopping center/movieplex is being built across the street due to open summer of 2009
