Not a newer Fairfield format, so you must ask for the correct room if you have luggage as the elevators are not in the lobby area. Do make sure that you are able to access the room without stairs if need to bring up luggage.

Supportive front desk, but make sure you ask.

Icy parking lot in winter, so make sure you have good traction.

My first mistake was that I was deceived by the good brand of Marriott. I didn't realize this hotel was basically a motel 6. I had booked a King Suite to accommodate three adults for $200 per night. My second mistake was that you get what you pay for. $200 seemed like a lot of money. I didn't expect the Ritz, but I expected a roomy nice hotel.

When we arrived, we were informed that the King Suite wouldn't be available for two nights (we had booked 7 nights). We were then put in a room with two double beds. They gave us a room with someone already sleeping. We were both surprised to see each other when I entered.

We were assigned another room, obviously. But we had to endure the thin walls while we listened to the neighbor watch TV until 2AM.

We checked out the next day and stayed at the DoubleTree for only a few dollars more. What a huge difference.

We recently stayed at the FFI-Dedham for 2 nights. The value in room rates for staying outside of Boston is incredible. We chose the FFI because it was close to the commuter rail station.

We had a room with a king bed. The bedding was upgraded from middle-of-the-road hotel chains but a couple of notches below the Westin or Hyatt. The bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, the towels were institutional in quality and felt like sandpaper. Another negative was that the room ac/heat unit vent deflector was very close to one side of the bed and it blew directly on the person located nearest to it.

Walking to the rail station ground platform takes about 12 minutes. You have to walk on the side of a curvy road that is mixed residential & office buildings. If you wanted to drive to the parking lot for the rail station it is about 5 miles as you have to get back on the freeway (that was weird). Parking is $2 during the week and free on weekends.

Vinnie T's Italian restaurant is on-site and it is very good. Portions are huge!

Hotel front desk staff was very friendly & helpful.

The expanded continental breakfast included hot waffles, oatmeal, cold cereals, fruit, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea & juice. Someone from the staff was constantly there to restock and clean up.

My wife and I were looking for a clean, cheap place with convenient access to the train into Boston. This served that purpose perfectly. Nothing fancy.....but no complaints about cleanliness, service, or the room.
I will say that the layout of the hotel was very odd...and confusing. Very long halls...long wings....tough to navigate inside of the hotel.
It is an easy walk to the train....1/4 mile max. Not a very good entrance to the train station though....dirt paths, shrubs, small walkway through chainlink fence.
Did not eat at Vinny T's....but the place was bustling every night.

Just your good basic, clean, comfortable Fairfield Inn for a reasonable price. The breakfasts, while not as elaborate as its sister hotel chain, SpringHill Suites, are OK and have decent choices. Of course, it would be nice if the windows opened----I had to turn on the fan at a time of year when fresh air would have sufficed.

Most people who stay here will arrive by car; it's convenient to the freeways, although you really need to follow the instructions once you get off the freeway (I was arriving at night, and thought I was headed in the wrong direction, pulled over where some cops were, and they noted that the hotel was right around the corner I was driving on. Some better signage would be nice.)

However, it's also convenient to the Dedham Corporate Center commuter train station, if you don't mind walking about a quarter-mile. There's a walkway that goes through the seemingly inpenetrable chain link fence that surrounds the station. The trains are fairly frequent, even on weekends, as long as you don't stay out too long.

Dedham Center is a couple of miles away, and it's worth going there to avoid the ubiquitous strip malls. A nice business district with a classic movie theater to boot. (The hotel is actually across the street from a typically suburban multiplex.)

The room, bathroom and public spaces were very, very clean. Beds linen were immaculate. Friendly staffed, the internet at the lobby was fast. Breakfast was very good indeed. Caution for people with walking problems: the metro station is just a three-minute walk. However, since the hotel is located in a suburban area, to get to the station you must walk by the route (no sidewalks and you must go down a slope with no escalators to enter the station). Obviously this
is not the hotel´s fault, but it is the only caution I would point out. In short, I would not hesitate to come back.

Our rate was not honored when we stayed at this hotel. We were initially put into a smoking room after requesting non-smoking, then we were moved to non-smoking but a queen rather than a king. We arrived late at night and the hotel wouldn't honor our rate due to a technicality and charged us $75 more than we booked it for. We spoke with the GM in the morning who said that he could do something for us, but wouldn't. The rooms were cheap, ugly, and the hotel's layout is attrocious. On the bright side, the complimentary breakfast was pretty good. The area it's in is kind of ghetto; I was nervous about my car...
