The rooms were spacious though the 2 bedroom rooms are actually loft style so there are no doors on the bedrooms compromising privacy. The rooms are dark and there is not a lot of natural light (surprising as their renovation could have included sky light windows). The internet connection is slow and temperamental and there is no wireless. The standard of cleanliness was poor; there were old blood stains on the sheets and several times it appeared they only came in to make the bed. It was tough finding parking most nights and there is only stair access which is not ideal if you have heavy baggage. After staying in the TownePlace the month before I figured the Residence Inn would be significantly better as it was 50% more per night in cost, though I couldn't see much of a difference between the two and am starting to lose confidence in the Marriott name.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

Summers are long in Texas, so we were looking to escape the October heat. Boston was wonderful and this hotel was a home away from home. This hotel was reasonalby priced, had large cofortable rooms, and very friendly service. I hope to return again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.

This suburban Residence Inn was a great option for economical Boston lodging. After looking at many websites for hotels in Boston for our mid-October visit, it was difficult to find a midweek room in Boston for less than $400, plus $40/night parking. While we were 15 miles from our favorite restaurants and bakeries in the North End, it was not difficult (10 min. drive) to get to public transit (MBTA) stations to get downtown. This hotel certainly helped us to stay within our budget.

We were greeted like VIPS to our hotel by Ashley, who upgraded us to a "penthouse" thanks to our Marriott rewards account & the experience could not have been nicer. It was a 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen, living room with fireplace and 2 bathrooms. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable... and plenty of free parking!

There is a Costco next door which was convenient (and cheap) for filling up the car prior to returning to Logan, which is a short, toll-free drive away.

We didn't take advantage of any social hours or continental breakfasts in the lobby, but we used their computers and printers for confirming our travel itineraries, which was helpful. The front desk staff was courteous and friendly everytime I popped in. Ready to offer directions to Boston or the airport, even setting us up with some toothbrushes and toothpaste.

All in all, a great stay at the Residence Inn.

We stayed at the newly "renovated" Residence Inn in Danvers, MA. Based on the price, $159.00 per night we thought we would be getting something special. The "newly" renovated room was new carpeting (sorely needed), a new bed (very comfortable) and a kitchen with a granite counter and stainless steel appliances. Sounds good? Well think twice about this hotel. The rooms are dark (color scheme is a very dark red). The pull out sofa (although we did not use it as a pull-out bed) was very uncomfortable. The appliances, although new, were very cheap. However, the bed was comfortable. For a updated hotel, the internet was dial-up and and the connection never lasted. The maid service, although honest, did not do a very good job of cleaning the room. The people at the hotel were pleasent and helpful. The renovation was still on-going and from my observation was the most disorganized renovation I have ever encountered. The location is good but they really should rethink their price.

Room Tip: Ask for an outside room. If you stay in an inside room you can't get cell service.

We stayed here 10 days through the beginning of August. Even though it is under renovation, our room was well kept and comfortable. The staff is congenial and attentive. Once you figure out how to get here from Route One northbound access is all right. One improvement would be to have a few more cooking utensils (e.g. hot water kettel, frying pan) not everyone succumbs to Dr. Microwave. We stayed here two summers ago and I would definitely go back. I have had excellent service from Residence Inns. I look forward to seeing the renovations. A tip of the hat to our housekeeper, she was splendid.

Room Tip: No real ideas, the desk staff can help you.

Dirty carpet, lights with no shade, peeling paint and wall paper, layers of grey dust/hair on air conditioner intake in room. Called desk was told they are starting and redo of the interior. Not a moment too soon! They should not have continued to sell rooms in this condition. Also had issues with poor service at front desk( nobody at the desk for check out, and check in person more concerned with planning her own trip with another guest than checking me in. Not usual Marriott experience.

Room Tip: Don't go

I decided to try out one of these redsidence inns that my American friends talk about. For around $115 a night booked direct with Marriott Residence Inn in Danvers, MA for a couple of nights and very happily surprised.

After checking in I was told about certain days (2 each week) that they offer free dinner and they also have laundry on site ($1 to wash, $1 to dry), fitness suite, plenty of parking spaces and friendly staff there to help but one of the necessary things that they do not offer is security. I was told that security is not needed, not even cameras and not being from this country made me feel a little nervous, especially when there is no security to access the inn and all apartment doors lead to the street.

Once inside the studio apartment, I found the regular items like cable TV, alarm clock/radio, coffee maker, condiment tray for it that includes coffee, tea, sugar plus some really good microwave popcorn which was delicious. The bathroom was beautiful with granite tops, full bathroom, plenty of towels and the usual unwrapped soaps, also very clean and the whole place presented itself nicely. Two large closets with hanging space, hangers and shelves are very disreetly placed and not in your face.

The bed is very comfortable, there is a nice big fireplace that I should light but won't bother, floor and table lamps, adequate kitchen with microwave, toaster, stove, oven, fridge/freezer. I was given a Costco card by reception to get my groceries, only a 5 minute walk from the inn. There is also a TGI Fridays within a 2 minute walk and a couple of other places across the highway. Apart from the entry, kitchen and bathroom the whole studio was carpeted offering a little more warmth and a temperature control system on the wall was very responsive and easy to use.

The Residence Inn Marriott offered me a cozy and homely place to stay on my travels and although there is no security I will be visiting again. Also, internet was complimentary...very impressed!
