“Beautiful overlook”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We hiked out to the sandy overlook from the parking lot to watch the sunset. We didn't stay the whole way until sunset, or else we'd have to walk back in the dark. It's about a 45 minute walk out to the wooden overlook (probably just shy of 2 miles). The parking area has a port-a-potty. This area is maintained by the Trustees of Reservations, and just like every other area I've been that they maintain, it's very well preserved. The sign for the area is very small, so be looking for it as you're driving along North Rd. It's on the right if you're heading toward Menemsha and on the left if you're heading away from Menemsha.

“Uhhh...the best walk on MV”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Just do it. Takes about 35 minutes to get to the bluff overlook. When in doubt, stay to the right as it is shorter. Once you get to the bluff and the platform deck, just duck under the ropes and walk down to the top of the dune. I didn't say that because you are not supposed to do this. Don't take little kids off the platform though. The view is great- about 237 degrees (between 180 and 270). Look down to your right (north) and see the chimney from the brickyard where a whole lotta brick were made to build a bunch of homes on Beacon Hill in Boston. Not working anymore but nice bit o' history. And look back and there is some spectacular house with a killer deck. Must be a Hedge Fund person or maybe someone in entertainment. Nice digs.

“A fine family walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

My spouse and I have walked the Menemsha Hills preserve many times. You can manage to combine paths to walk perhaps 3-4 miles. The terrain is hilly that I would rate as a 1 to 2 walk. The final path going to the beach is steep, but the beach is very welcoming. Don't expect to bump into many people. There is plentiful parking. Couple this walk with a trip to Menemsha that is only 10 - 15 minutes away. There is even a portapotty in the parking lot.. The walk is not suitable for a stroller and bikes are not permitted, but there is a bike rack in the parking lot.

“Fabulous hike to lookouts and beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

This is an easy-moderate hike to two amazing lookouts and then down to a pristine beach. This is a fun hike and is the perfect place to see the sunset over Vineyard Haven, or do as a morning hike. If sunset is your choice, bring flashlights! There is a port a toilet at trailhead and lots of ticks, be prepared, as on any island hike. The trees are unbelievable, as are the grassy parts of the path. This is a must do and the kids will love tooling around the beach!

“Lovely walk.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012 via mobile

Nice shaded hike, good views. There are two loops on this hike. On the second loop if you want to complete both sides I'd recommend taking the left path on the way down as bits are steep and it would be fairly challenging in the opposite direction. The other half of the second loop is a much easier walk. Really appreciated the shade and saw quite a few birds.
