We have been to Chilmark Tavern the past couple of years during the summer and love it! But you must make a reservation in the summer months. And since Chilmark is a dry town, remember to BYOB. They focus on local fare, including seafood and Vineyard farm vegetables. The dishes are inventive and interesting, but we were still able to find good food for our young girls, ages 4 and 6. Skip dessert, though, they are large and relatively uninteresting (pick up some nearby Chilmark Chocolates before your dinner to enjoy after your meal).

good vibe in the restaurant and full mixers if you want to bring liquor for a cocktail, or bring your wine or beer. We brought three kids and they were very happy, crayons are provided to draw on brown paper table topper. Fried clams were yummy, baked chicken over corn was great, scallops were perfect, steak was big and juicy, onion rings were fabulous, green salad simple and good. Buttered pasta for 6 year old was just right. Great desserts. Two thumbs up from the adults and the kids.

For those of you who remember The Feast of Chilmark, the current restaurant is close. It's a dry town but the restaurant provides great mixers and a seasonal wine or liquor locker.

The ambiance is simple mostly white and architectural. Very sparse decor but pleasant and airy. The cuisine is quite good with lovely fresh fish and Island greens, creative but sublet flavors. Better than most similar Island restaurants. Service is quite good and desserts are lovely. Warning, the coffee is very strong. Portions are appropriate and tge presentation is very pleasing. Not quite for "goodies" but close enough. Great mussels. Brief but varied menu. Nice if you want to eat up Island. Casual dress is fine.

What a wonderful new restaurant! We were staying way up island and did not want to do the long drive to Edgartown, so we were thrilled to find this wonderful new place. We were lucky enough to get a 7:30 reservation, but then ran into a delay when the 5:30 party did not show up until 6:15! The restaurants owner called us to explain the problem and apologize - (the earlier party made a scene, so they ended up seating them anyway) and offered to either cancel our reservation or seat us a little later. We chose a little later, which was fine since we were then able to enjoy the sunset! The restaurant staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating to us when we arrived. The food was amazing - try the lobster pizza! and so fresh, we all loved our meals! And the owner bought dessert for us, to apologize for any inconvenience! I cannot wait to go back the next time we are on the island - definitely worth the drive the Chilmark! What a wonderful place!

My husband and I took some friends here while vacationing on the island. The name makes you think of a casual restaurant/bar, but this is not a casual place. The decor is warm with blond wood and long white linen table cloths. Chilmark is a dry town, so it is BYOB, but the restaurant does a really nice job of having a drink menu that offers mixers and drink ideas. Reservations are a must, as this place is hopping especially on the weekends. I thought the hostess was very attentive and the owner is also clearly present, and checking in on guests. We were able to drink some sparkling wine, while waiting on the deck for our table to be ready. We waited only 10 minutes before being seated for our reservation.

The night we were there Willie Garson was also there from Sex and the City fame. It is a fun spot to look for celebs on vk or politicians.

The apps were fantastic, we had a grilled bread with house made ricotta which had fresh herbs in it. My salad was just amazing. All local produce was used. I chose the scallops which were cooked to perfection. All the meals were just wonderful.

the only negative was the dessert I had a blueberry cobbler which had no flavor at all. It was very watery and the topping was soggy.

Service was good, attentive, but not hovering. It is extremely loud however, so not a great place for conversation.
