First you should make sure you ask for the tower vs the old part of the hotel. We did this and yet when we arived they wanted to put us in the older part ( bc we paid less per night then the tour group in town) so thats why they bumped us. But after we spoke with the staff we then were put into the tower rooms.
When you arive the carpet in the elevator was incredibly dirty and smelly. Then when we got into the room the mirror in our bathroom ( 303) was broken ( why it wasn't fixed is beyond me) and then the motor for the fan in the bathroom was like a plane taking off.
The pillows were small and to this day I still have a neck issue from using 3 pillows for the use of one regular one.
The last thing I want to warn people about is the fact that they say breakfast is untill 9:30 but by 9 am they are almost finished with the food for the day. We had to go and ask them to re fill items.

When we come into town again we will stay at another hotel for sure.

Room Tip: don't stay here

We were first shown our room which had not been vacuumed and here was among other things cereal on the floor. They then said they would upgrade us to a room with upgraded amenities. We were shown the room, it appeared clean, when we came back after dinner, the noise in the room was like a freight train running through - we complained - they came up and said they were sorry but could do nothing that night. We found out there was an air conditioning duct going right through the room in the ceiling area somewhere - it was like this for three nights and no sleep. Upon trying to resolve it, they could not find another room for us and their was not supervisor on duty when we checked out - we never got any satisfaction except to say if we came again, we got a message from Marge O'Connor, General Mgr. that we would be given 10% off next time we came - do you think for one moment we would return to this place. It was a most upsetting 3 nights for us - and most unfair.

Room Tip: Do not get upgraded. We were first given a room ont he first floor, upon entering - it had not been...

Stayed at this Best Western a couple of years ago and was satisfied but not overly impressed. Stayed in May 2011 again with my wife and really have not stayed in a bigger more comfortable room at 2 or 3 times the price anywhere. So many upgrades in our fifth floor room to list all. Clean, comfortable, well appointed. Much better breakfast served and exterior of Hotel is very inviting. Easy access to Rt. 495. Very impressed. New owners??

A recent visit to this hotel (stayed here a few years back, tried it again) was pleasant. The front desk staff was very friendly - Annie and Sarah the day I was there. Upgrades to the landscaping and lobby furnishings greeted me. There is a warm, personal feel to this hotel, more than I get or expect at all Best Western's. Breakfast here is better than at most BWs. Really nice restaurant on the location too, "Moonstones" with interesting new American menu items and a raw bar- great New England seafood done creatively. Good bedding, sheets, etc. It's now a Best Western "Plus" so someone else must have noticed they are a notch above.

Stayed here a couple years ago and was not very impressed but it was passable. However, looking at the recent fairly positive reviews made me rethink my avoidance of this conveniently located lodging. That's ALL that can be said that is positive. Close to I495. Very bad odors, filthy elevator, and since the windows don't open in the room its one of those "you can't breathe due to all the dust, mold and obnoxious room deoderizer that confronts you in the room." A "leave your socks on kind of place." Then there is the very distinct smell of urine in the hallway. Do the words "Bates Hotel" have any meaning to anyone? Definitely creepy.

I got this as an oddball hotwire.com purchase (I am sure there was a glitch - but an great rate) - and was suspicious as hotwire users only had a 30% approval rating, but the room was big and perfect. The reception staff was great, the room was quiet, lots of amenities and breakfast was included. I was delighted!
