This was our last stop on a tour of New England before driving back to Boston to fly home. We got a warm welcome from Judy, who gave the clear impression that she wanted us to be 100% satisfied with our stay, which we were.
Whilst our room was compact compared to some others we had stayed in, it was clean and well appointed. We appreciated the edible freebies in the room and the use of the Inn's library of DVDs.
Ray and Judy gave us tips on where to have dinner and the sightseeing possibilities nearby, which helped. Watching a boat unload its catch at the fish quay, with seals in attendance, was good fun late one afternoon. Visiting in October, things were generally quite but not so our two choices for evening meals (Chatham Squire and Impudent Oyster), both of which were lively and enjoyable.
The breakfasts at the Inn were delicious, the fresh fruit salad being particularly good. Hot drinks and snacks are also available at other times and all the staff were very friendly. I hope we can return some day and take in the whale watching which other guests we spoke to had tried and were delighted with.

My wife was about to undergo surgery and we wanted to get away for a few days prior to the procedure. The Old Harbor Inn was just the ticket. Judy and Ray were extraordinarily warm and accommodating. The breakfasts were delicious and prepared fresh, even when we ran late. They went further by having Gluten-Free products and kept ahead of all our needs.

We will definitely be back.

My wife and I were visiting our daughter and her family in Boston and had plans to travel on to Montreal and Quebec for 6 days. Upon checking on the weather in those areas along with the 7 day forecast of rain, rain, and more rain, we decided not to waste our money sitting in a hotel watching it rain for 6 days. Disappointment !
In checking weather to the South of Boston, it looked like the Cape area would be pleasant weather for the next week. In checking Tripadvisor reviews, the Old Harbor Inn in Chatham looked very appealing. The 5 days that we spent at the Old Harbor Inn and the quaint town of Chatham was one of the best traveling experiences in our 42 years of traveling. The Old Harbor Inn is owned and operated by two lovely people, Ray & Judy, who make you feel that you are the only guest at their facility. Providing suggestions on restaurants, sights, and activities were provided in a very pleasant and helpful manner.
Although I love to provide suggestions as to how a business can improve their services, I am truly lost for any suggestions to improve their operation.

We stayed with Ray and Judy at the Old Harbor Inn for 3 nights recently at the end of our New England trip. It was like coming home. The Inn is so comfortable and Ray and Judy cannot do enough for you. The breakfasts were superb and so varied. There was always tea, coffee and cake on offer, as well as free drinks and snacks in each room, which were, spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Judy in particular is incredibly welcoming, offering advice on things to do and see and called up to organise a whale watching trip for us, offering us a discount through her.

It was a delightful end to a wonderful trip and I would recommend their home in a heartbeat.

Thank you Ray and Judy for an amazing stay.

We stayed in the South Beach room in the Old Harbor Inn. The Inn is very comfortable and Ray and Judy are great hosts. Their staff were all very friendly and helpful. Coffee, soda and snacks were available 24 hrs. Breakfasts were wonderful..yogurt and fruit and a different homemead bread were available for every breakfast. The hot breakfast varied from eggs and bacon, to an egg bake, to croissants filled with strawberry jam and then soaked in egg overnight and then baked. Yummy! Ray was very helpful and gave us information on renting bikes nearby to explore Chatham. He showed us places on the map to see on the drive between Chatham and Provincetown. He recommended we check out the fish pier and we saw seals as the fisherman were offloading their catch. We enjoyed the 3 nights we stayed and wished we could have stayed longer!

Room Tip: We liked being upstairs in the South Beach room. It had a gas fireplace but it wasn't really co...

We have stayed at many B & B's over the last 20 years and Old Harbor Inn was interesting. The place was very clean, which is always the most important issue on my list, the location was great as well. Now comes the But, the atmosphere was unhospitable, the food was ordinary and forgettable. Why provide room refrigerators and cake and drinks until 9:00 p.m. if you get annoyed when your guests generate used dishes and cups? If you want clean and convenient this may be okay, if you want a welcoming feeling and true hospitality by the owners it is your decision. If we wanted to be treated as an annoyance we could have stayed at home with our teenagers.

We were rather surprised and disappointed when we received the above review. The reviewer thanked us for a "lovely stay" when she and her husband departed. She states that cakes, snacks, cold beverages, tea, coffee/Keurig machine are available until 9 PM. They are available 24 hours at no charge. There is a supply of plates and dishes in the serving area that are available for use by the guests at any time. Dirty dishes are part of this service. The reviewer retrieved dishes from an area of storage not normally accessed by guests. This was the first time these dishes were used by a guest in the 17 years that we have operated the Inn. The reviewer states that the owners were not hospitable. We would submit that quite the opposite is true. Please see the numerous reviews listed below that support this. The reviewer states that the food was ordinary and forgettable. Entree items such as spinach and tomato quiche, eggs Provencal, blueberry buttermilk pancakes, strawberry filled baked egg croissants, oven baked blueberry french toast stuffed with cream cheese are items that we submit are not ordinary. We provide alternative choices each day for guests that have food allergies or preferences. The reviewer requested scrambled eggs each day that she was here and they were happily provided..
We consider the Inn a work in progress and continually review, revise and update all of areas of operation to provide each and every guest the best possible travel experience.
