The Captain's Table in Chatham Mass, on Cape Cod is cramped, hot and dirty. Overall, for what it is, the menu was overpriced, the diningroom in need of a deep clean and the food lack luster. After swimming all morning with my husband and 1 yr old daughter, we came seeking some rich and comforting classic Cape Cod chowder. We were sorely dissapointed in the obviously fake canned soup served with stale (open and likely recycled )cracker packets pulled out of our waitress's pocket. I could accept the lack of air conditioning and tacky decor if the food made up for it. But sadly no - the food was a huge dissapointment and the service sketchy. I ordered the Angus burger because of the gourmet topping options ( I chose roasted red peppers and carmelized onions with cheddar cheese). The onions were raw, the red pepper cold from a jar (not even heated) and the burger greasy and overcooked. I had to ask for my side of chips. My husband did enjoy his fried clam plate but went parched the entire meal as he had no drink. If this is the Captain's table- I'd hate the be the Captain!
