One star minus only because of a few details that could have been done better. We were early arrivals, celebrating a wedding anniversary. The quiet was nice, because the dining room got noisy before we left. My wife had lobster, but had to ask for a bowl for the shells, and a small fork for the task. A bib wouldn't have been to inelegant to offer. I had the scallops Nantucket. I am still not convince that mozarella and bacon really compliment scallops. Butter was served as foil wrapped patties - a pain to unwrap with resultant greasy fingers. I would expect this at Dennys, but not an expensive restaurant. The sour cream was just a jab. The vegetables were fresh and nicely sauteed. My wife loved the chocolate cake. The coconut sorbetto was wonderful, but, although the coconut shell as serving dish was cute, it was impossible to eat without holding the shell with one hand, resulting in a chocolate sauce mess.

All in all, a nice dining experience with excellent service. The rest of the menu looked intriguing, but very much on the pricey side.

As innkeepers here in Chatham know, concierge services are critically
important. But in a town filled with great restaurants, none
can match the outdoor patio at the Longshore Restaurant. The waterfall,
koi pond and plantings are absolutely beautiful. Sipping a Chardonnay
next to the sound of the waterfall and enjoying the myriad of colors in
the flower garden cannot be matched anywhere else in the area.

But that’s just the setting. Let’s talk a little bit about the food and ambiance. Longshore has the greatest appetizers in Chatham. Try the “Not Your Average Onion Rings,” Spanish sweet onions thinly sliced fresh daily, bone in or boneless buffalo wings, or sesame crusted pan seared tuna. You will find a great selection of salads, burgers and sandwiches as well as a great range of entrees from the land and from the sea – and always some delicious specials sure to please every palate. Longshore is not pretentious – just good food at a good price.

Roz, the owner, is hands on. She usually visits each table to assure all guests are satisfied. She can often be seen out early in the morning attending to the landscape. Longshore recently hosted a meeting we attended. All the B&Bs and motels agreed that the food and service was excellent. We wholeheartedly recommend the Longshore Restaurant to all of our guests.

The place was empty but it was early...615 pm. Menu was unexceptional; we started with a shared order of coconut shrimp...6 nice tasty ungreasy shrimp for $9. No bread ever came. Entrees were crab cakes with a blah salsa but a nice chipotle cream on top and some mixed veggies and baked cod which was well prepared but again nothing special. Shared nice but AGAIN uninteresting chocolate cake and decent coffee. Food is good at typical high Cape cod prices but as I keep saying....nothing special. Service was fine.

We really loved the Longshore fir both food and ambience. We ate there three times. Steak tips excellent and Fish &Chip night terrific value. One of the key aspects however was the staff, really friendly and competent. Sally, our server on our first visit, really set the tone for our great experiences.

Wanted to try something new and had not ventured here yet. It was definitely what we expected and had heard from others. They advertise an oyster happy hour so we assumed they'd have oysters on the menu but to our surprise they did not. When we asked out waitress, I don't even know if she knew what an oyster was. Eventually, she directed us to the oysters Rockefeller on the menu. Brilliant. We gave up on that. Out waitress was nice enough but too eager and we couldn't finish our sentence and she thought she already knew what we were going to say. A ceasar salad with steak tips was an over easy steak tips to her. What's worse is that it didn't dawn on her that over easy steak tips didn't make sense and proceeded to ask is our starch choice. Overall, not impressed. Too bad because the bar was nice and it's a large restaraunt but only first refill on sodas and teas seems like a stretch.
