The food was good and it was fun t see the seals but parking is insane. If my husband were not driving I really would not be able to go.

We stopped by for about a half hour early afternoon to watch the fishing boats unload their catch. Good viewing from a deck which would get a bit crowded from time to time. Bring your camera to get some photo's of the boats, fisherman, harbor and especially the seals who hang out around the docks. You can purchase seafood at the market to take home for preparation or have a meal cooked for you on the premises. It's takeout food but there are a few picnic tables on the grounds. Excellent fish and chips. No options other than seafood in case all in your party aren't seafood lovers.

The pier and fish market was a side stop that we hadn't expected much from. As it turns out, we loved watching the boats get unloaded, the seals swimming around the catch the remnants, and all the excited tourists. Do arrive a little early though, since the viewing platform off the pier is a bit limited. Also, the parking is horrible, so plan to park quite a distance away and then walk to the pier.

While you're there, be sure to try some food at the fish market. We sampled several types of sushi, as well as their fried shrimp, and it was lovely. There is also a nice beach and lighthouse close by, so we chose to take our food down the road to the beach and eat there. Made for a great setting and inexpensive outing.

Especially take the kids. It is fun to see the masses of fish that are brought in and be sure to stop and get prepared seafood at their store. Very good.

My patents and grandparents brought me here as a kid to watch the fisherman unload their catch. Great fun to see all the seafood unloaded from the upper viewing area. Parking can be difficult though.
