My husband and I stayed for the last two nights, 6th and 7th September. a lovely welcome by the hosts who gave a brief overview of the facilities and also recommendations on where to eat in Chatham. The Hawthorne itself is a six minute stroll from the Main Street so ideal for a meal at night if you wanted to have a drink and not drive. One recommendation if you do this....pack a torch as the road to town is very dark and not lit. The motel is right on the beach and the views are to die for. We got up handy one morning and took a stroll along .. we saw a few seals anxious to collect the fishermans spoils, a few people collecting clams...loads of gulls. The rooms are either facing the sea or to the road. We didn't opt this time for a sea view but would next time. The views and scenery are spectacular. Free sun loungers, parasols, use of a gas BBQ if needed. Fridges in the rooms. Room itself, really comfy and clean...loved little personal touches like the sign saying "no scales... We want you to enjoy eating out !". I would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you were visiting Chatham... and I'd definitely come back.

Room Tip: Chose a sea view room !!

We have stayed here the past five Labor Day weekends with friends. Gil, Ellie and their employees are friendly. The rooms are clean and our room had a small kitchenette with Keurig coffeemaker, small refrigerator and stove. The king-size bed almost fills the room. The best part about staying here are the lawn chairs, informality and beautiful view with direct access to the beach. We look forward to our stay every year.

Room Tip: Rooms on South side have kitchenettes and are facing lawn and water.

My girlfriend and I needed a quick get-a-way so I looked up places on the cape to escape and stumbled on the Hawthorne. I decided to go for it, and booked a 1 night stay. Well we were very pleasantly surprised, that the reviews we read lived up the hype.

This place was very comfortable, and laid back. The owners met us at the front door and welcomed us graciously. The room was cozy and comfortable, the bathroom clean and up to date. We even had a room with a kitchen, including a refrigerator (even though we didn't need it).

It has a great little private beach, with complimentary chairs and umbrella's - and the room we had overlooked the ocean as well, great great view with all the little boats in the bay.

The Hawthorne is also about a 6-10 minute walk from downtown Chatham, down a lovely back road along a golf course.

Anyway, it was a great escape, the price was fair and the we really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view!

We were very pleased with the location, cleanliness, friendly service and wonderful ocean views from the Hawthorne. Close walk to town. Rooms are snug, but adequate. I would recommend to all my friends.

The owners are wonderful. Very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The bed is very comfortable and king size. Saturday night fire on the beach is nice too. The beach is ok for sun bathing. There are chairs and umbrellas available. Not what I would consider a swimming beach. Boats are anchoring close to the beach and the motel is not on the ocean side. It's a protected inlet. Location is excellent. We were able to walk to town and visit the shops and all the restaurants are within walking distance so we only took the car on one day. It was nice walking to restaurants for dinner and not have to take the car every day and drive. The grounds are well maintained with chairs outside your door for sitting. It's a very quiet motel for relaxing. You can walk to the Fishing Pier to see them unload the daily catch and see the seals. We saw seals every day on the beach just a few feet away. We stayed for four days and it was just the right amount of time to take it all in, relax and see the sights. The motel sits on a hill, so be prepared to walk uphill on your way back from the beach. You can't really swim from the beach and they have no pool - which would be nice to have a place to cool off and swim. There is a public beach down the road, but parking is limited and it's still in the inlet so it's not worth the trip.

Room Tip: Request ocean view.
