Nice boat ride, tons of seals real close to boat, a lot cheaper than a whale watch, employees very knowledgable and friendly, free parking. Don't expect anything too exciting. The seals are just bobbing in the water and pretty much don't do anything. Things to know: you must walk into the knee high water to get on/off boat, only about 10 to 15 people on boat, black flies were brutal, you cannot feed the seals. Our trip was almost all adults, only 3 children. The adults seemed to enjoy but he children seemed kind of bored. I love animals and the ocean so I really enjoyed it.

Monomoy Island Ferry provides trips to the island for the purpose of seeing the seals in the area. You take off from some of the best scenic areas in New England on a terrific boat and a captain with wonderful knowledge of the area & the seals. The trip is well worthwhile but the only seals you actually see are in the waters around you looking for food. You can't appproach the island because the water is too shallow but you see clumps of black on the beach. To really have a great time you need binoculars which we didn't have & wasn't mentioned to us. Everyone connected to the operation is very good. A well spent 2 hours. Bring the field glasses.

We did this seal excursion last month. We had a bit of confusion getting it scheduled--you really just have to schedule a couple days ahead because they don't necessarily know what times they will run until they see the tides. You check in at the monomoy island refuge site and then head down a staircase to the beach and board the boat by wading through the water so be prepared to get a little wet. Captain Keith and Tom were very well informed and gave us loads of information on the seals. They were very cute and would just pop out of the water and peek at us just like we were peeking at them. I had hoped we would see more of the outer part of monomoy and the lighthouse on monomoy. It was about a 90 minute ride and it was a fun excursion.

We did this in August, the weather was perfect. We saw tons of seals and many of them were very close to the boat. It was also nice to hear about the houses and land marks on the tour. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about a wide range of topics related to the area and marine life. It was a little pricey but the tour guides made sure you get your moneys worth.

We had a wonderful excursion to watch seals! The captain was very informative and knowledgeable about the area and the seals. He encouraged passenger participation. My husband needed extra help and the crew got the boat is as close to the shore as they could for him to get on it. We had a fun-filled time!
