“extraordinary attention to details!”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

We recently spent four nights at the Captains House Inn and would highly recommend this charming Inn to all. Chatham is a breathtaking village and the Captains House Inn was a very relaxing, comfortable, and private place to stay. I was amazed at all the details the inn keepers have thought about. My room (Hannah Rebekah) came stocked with juice, water, snacks, hair and body products, chocolates on pillow during turn down service, tea, coffee and juice at whatever time you want in the am... I could go on and on about the small touches that make this Inn amazing. The breakfasts were gourmet, made of the freshest ingredients, and so filling that we did not need to eat again until the later afternoon. There is also a selection of teas, coffees, and goodies put out each afternoon and evenings. Equally yummy! My husband asked the Inn keepers to make a special cake for us to celebrate a birthday/anniversary. It was delicious and beautifully presented. What a wonderful touch! Jill, one of the Inn keepers, came to our table each morning to ask about our stay and to assist us in making reservations or plans. They also have a small room off kitchen filled with hand typed directions, brochures, menus, umbrellas, beach towels..just about anything you will need for day excursions. Truly, they have thought about EVERYTHING to make your stay enjoyable.
Our room, Hannah Rebekah, was great. The bed was huge, comfortable, and piled with fluffy pillows. The shower was wonderful....

The grounds and pool are quiet, picturesque, and clean. I spent several happy hours reading in a comfortable chair.(they also have a great DVD library) Staff was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I loved having breakfast in their beautiful garden with classical music playing...so relaxing! This Inn manages to make your stay individualized, yet my husband and I felt we also had the privacy of a hotel. Great location...15 minute walk to downtown and 5 minute ride to beach.

Room Tip: they are all great!!!

We recently spent 3 nights at the Captain's House Inn and can't wait to return. From what we can see, Chatham is one of the prettiest, nicest villages on the Cape, so we were delighted to have chosen a place there. The Captain's House offers the best of several worlds -- the pretty grounds (with chairs sprinkled around!) and spaces are organized so that it feels warm, yet private (you don't feel as if you're sharing an experience with other people or forced to talk to anyone at a common breakfast table). Most B&B's seem too small to us, too confining, but Captain's House finds the right mix of intimacy and privacy. The staff is very accessible, helpful, and friendly yet also leave you to "do your own thing" if you wish.

We had the Hiram Harding room which was very large and felt very "New England-y", which is just what we wanted. It also has a private entrance across from the main house which felt like having your own cottage in a way. Everything was in great condition, and although the bathroom is a bit small, it is extremely well set up (glass shelving gives plenty of room to put your toiletries!), had wonderful big towels, every amenity (make-up remover pads!), and lovely soaps and shampoos. The rooms are exceptionally well maintained. We spoke to Jill for a while one morning and we were very impressed - by her commitment to the business and community and for her entire approach to hospitality.

The innkeepers have definitely thought of everything. The room had excellent reading lights and comfortable chairs to read in, wifi worked perfectly, a huge DVD library, water and juice provided in your room every day plus cookies and snacks in a basket when you arrive. My favorite part? -- you can have a tray of coffee, tea and juice delivered to your room in the morning, for a leisurely way to spend some time before breakfast. The breakfast menu for the next day is placed on your bed with the turndown service. And breakfast is terrific, served in a lovely light-filled room. And last but not least, coffee, tea, cocoa and cookies are kept in the kitchen after dinner until about 11 pm.

This definitely is one of the finest inns we've ever visited -- location is great, you're 2 minutes from the village yet not on top of the crowd, and the hospitality is terrific. And there's a terrific bike rental shop just a short walk from the inn!

Room Tip: The good news is that the pictures on the website are accurate! So choose whatever style and size a...

We just spent three nights at the Captain's House Inn At Chatham and it was amazing.
The property was charming and in a great location.
Staff was gracious and tried to please you in any possible way.
Room was perfect. We had a four poster bed that was a bit high off thenfloor but thybfigured it out by adding a small step stool to help get in.
The Inn Keeper Jill made sure to greet us and help with any sightseeing as well as restaurant suggestions. She was so friendly and helpful.
We will definitely return.

This was our second trip to Chatham, MA, but our first stay at the Captain's House Inn. The grounds are breathtaking and our room was relaxing, quiet and very charming. We particularly liked having a separate entrance to our room as well as a small private patio directly off the back of our room. Everything was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. We happened to arrive on a rainy day so we took advantage of the huge selection of dvds available to borrow. Breakfast was delicious and the service was fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat just to see a different room. The history of the inn is interesting and everyone has done a great job maintaining the historic detail of the buildings. Great trip!!

Room Tip: This was a quiet time of year, but from what we could see and what we experienced, all of the availa...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for our anniversary. We have stayed in many, many B&B's, and top hotels, but this one ranks up there with the best. The attention to detail with everything is amazing. They didn't drop the ball once. I have to commend the owners for taking the time to think of little details that their guests would like or want before we even knew we would like them. On arrival Kirsty checked us in and showed us around. She is a lovely young lady from England. Our room was beautiful and cozy with a fireplace, and once again the attention to detail was noticed. They have scrumptious breakfasts every morning but also deliver tea or coffee to your room prior to breakfast. So fantastic! In the library they have sherry and port for your enjoyment and afternoon tea every day, with so many little treats to fill you up. After dinner in the kitchen you can help yourself to coffee, tea or hot chocolate and more cookies and treats. It's never ending. In the rooms are baskets with water, chips, granola bars and juice that is replenished every day. We stayed in the Whirlwind room which didn't have a fridge but there is a guest fridge in the main kitchen for guests to use. They really have thought of everything. There is a beautiful outdoor pool and the grounds and herb garden are beautifully maintained. It's in an ideal location, within walking distance to Main Street but far enough away for peace and quiet. We loved sitting out on the lawn and listening to all the birds singing every day. The beds are very comfortable and our rooms were kept spotless. In the evening we came home to our bed turned down, the curtains drawn and chocolates on our pillows. Would be very easy to stay here forever. Well done job by all involved.

We stayed at the Captain's House at the beginning of May with our friends. It was our first time in Cape Cod and proved to be a very enjoyable experience! We had a charming welcome from Madison, one of the team of English girls working there and she was able to advise us about local dining possibilities. Our room was charming, very clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a jacuzzi bath which was soothing after a long day of sightseeing!
Breakfast was served in the garden room and the choice was good. Jill, the Innkeeper came to talk to us and give advice on excursions etc!
It was pleasant to come back to the Inn after dinner and have a glass of port in the library. In the kitchen there was a cookie jar with different homemade biscuits in case you were still hungry!
The gardens were very pretty with spring flowers and the local village of Chatham is pleasant to walk in. Would we come back if we are in Cape Cod again? Of course!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Northern Lights room which had a jacuzzi bath and a little terrace to sit out on at...

We weren't sure what to expect when we found a notecard in our room saying the owners/innkeepers would be away the entire length of our six-night stay; but our fears were unfounded since we couldn't have asked for better service from the entire staff. The interns from England are gracious, charming, caring, and compassionate. They are also beautiful from the inside out. Hannah and Kirsty were there most days and provided exceptional service in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed the bountiful breakfasts prepared by Chef Kevin or Madison. The afternoon teas became a daily ritual and continue now that we are back in PA.

Our room (Northern Light) was spotless and always replenished, including coffee supplies, snacks, juice and water, toiletries, and even bedside truffles. Everyone did an outstanding job and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. Jill, the owner, made a point to stop by and introduce herself at our last breakfast since she had just returned from her trip. I'm sure she was very tired but she made the effort and that's what counts in our book. Our neighbors/friends own a B&B and we have helped out several times, so we know firsthand what all goes into running a successful business. Captain's House Inn is a success in every way and we give it the highest praise it truly deserves.

Room Tip: We stayed in Northern Light and it was quiet and comfortable with a small private patio. We enjoyed...
