“A Gastronomic Experience ”
Review of Certo's Trattoria - CLOSED

Certo's Trattoria
Price range: $28 - $70
Description: We are a 24 seat restaurant off the busy streets of Chatham with parking. We have a bar with craft drinks and Italian wines, a fireplace to take the chill off and lovely art to view. Our intention is to cultivate a food experience that will stimulate all five of your senses. To do so, we’ve thrown out the rules and created flavors, textures and presentations that we believe will please you from first sight to last bite. We use the freshest ingredients, and we’ve taken the time to find wine pairings that enhance & elevate each component. We invite you to discover those sensations with us now. Some of our courses employ MOLECULAR GASTRONOMY it sounds like something that should take place in a college laboratory; it is actually the science of food. Using modern cooking techniques to stimulate physical and chemical transformations in ordinary ingredients, allows us to pull off such feats as making elegant caviar out of a garden tomato.

A passionate chef commands this new restaurant in Chatham. There is no doubt on his commitment to quality and surprising guests with culinary expertise. Every course brings a combination of flavors and ingredients that are a concert of goodness. This place is about food. Don't expect to get bread or salad. That is just a filler and not additive according to the chef. Cordial and accommodative staff round out a wonderful experience. The tiramisu topped off an excellent meal.

Stumbled across this new place on a drive and decided to go back to try it out. We were not looking for a huge meal this evening. The staff and especially the Chef/owner were very personable sharing their stories and explaining the food. Interesting drink menu ...try the Italian Mule. We each had an app- one tuna/scallop and one duck bundles. We shared the ravioli and enjoyed an amazing chocolate-peanut butter dessert ..homemade whipped cream was to die for. The edible flower bundle that came as "compliments of the chef" was one of the most unique items I have ever sampled. Please give it a try. Truly a unique experience

We are so happy/fortunate to have this first rate restaurant in Chatham. The food and service are outstanding. The duck wrapped in cabbage was such a treat and a unique appetizer as was the wrapped prosciutto. My husband loved his bass entree and I enjoyed the tomato tart -- yummy. We topped it off with espresso and blonde chocolate dessert. We were made to feel at home and very welcome Looking forward to going back and trying the scallop and leg of lamb dish.

Wow! We eat out at least once a week, but I hardly ever write reviews. Certo’s is a keeper. My wife and I were seated and ordered cocktails before looking at the wine list. While enjoying our drinks we looked over the cocktail list and remarked that one of the cocktails look interesting. Our waiter, James, must have overheard our conversation, because he offered us a sampler size of the cocktail we had been discussing. We’ll try the full version the next time. Our antipasti were the scallop ceviche and the tuna crudo. Both were outstanding. Interesting dehydrated beet garnish on the tuna crudo. While we were enjoying, James brought us a sample of wine which he recommended for our entrees. They were spot on and complimented our sea bass and beef entrees. My wife proclaimed her fish as the best she had had in ages. My beef was great, except not medium rare as ordered. James wisked it away and Chef Frank returned it at the proper temperature as order. Medium rare had become medium well in the kitchen. Espresso panna cotta completed the meal. What a culinary adventure.

Certo's is a great new restaurant in the old location of Sweet Tomatoes Pizza. The owner/head chef greets all patrons and really knows his stuff. Two of my family members had the tenderloin and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Two of us had the prosciutto wrapped quail - it was superb. My son had homemade ravioli and he loved it. The ambiance is perfect with very interesting paintings and good music. This is pricey but consistent with Pisces and other boutique restaurants in Chatham. My only complaint was the time to serve. It wasn't that busy and there was a long wait - probably because the chef is chatting with everyone. When the meal comes out though, it hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp. It's ready to be devoured.

Thank you for your review. I am able to talk to my customers while my competent staff prepares your dinner. For your information the longest dish to cook is the quail, it takes 20 minutes to prepare and cook, and is served immediately.
