I simply can't say enough about CDK House or its owners! We stayed for 2 nights (Fri-Sat) for a wedding nearby. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family (but not in an overbearing, annoying way!). Tom and Rick are so friendly, accommodating and welcoming- they were born to do what they do. The inn itself is lovely, with classic New England decor and several screened-in porches on which to relax and/or have breakfast.
We had the flagship room- the Captain Kelley- and it was beautiful! Classically and tastefully decorated with modern amenities (flat panel TV, DVD player, internet, CD player/alarm clock). Comfortable and spacious. Plush bathrobes were provided and delicious, gourmet chocolates were left as part of the nightly turn-down service.
The breakfast was outstanding. You'll be served fresh-baked fruit/nut scones (they collect scone recipes as a hobby!), fresh fruit salad, a hot, freshly made entree (we had a prosciutto/goat cheese/basil/onion bake one morning and two different quiches the next) and a wide selection of juices, coffees and teas. Cheese and crackers were also set out late afternoon for anyone to enjoy with their own wine...
But back to Tom and Rick- they are phenomenal. You can tell they love what they do and it makes all the difference in their guest experiences. When we arrived back to the B&B one afternoon, they were just coming back from an auction of local artists' work. They had purchased a lovely little painting and hung it right then and there in the dining room. They put so much thought and personalized touches into CDK House, I don't know that I'll ever be able to stay at a Holiday Inn again.
Later that afternoon, we were ready for the wedding and asked them if they would take a moment to photograph us for our own wedding announcement which was going to be in the next week's paper. They took more than just a moment. They picked the perfect setting and lighting and kept taking photos until we had one we loved. Then, when we got home from the wedding that night, we found a card and a little something from them in honor of our upcoming marriage. It was beyond thoughtful and really made our whole stay there so special.
We were sad to leave and can't wait to visit again, maybe next summer for our one year anniversary!
They've only been open a couple of months, but Rick and Tom run their B&B like old pros and I wish them all the best! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a stay at CDK House!!!
