“Unmatched hospitality”
Reviewed May 26, 2009

We stayed for four nights over the holiday weekend as a way to relax and reconnect, and could not have had a better stay. This is our 5th B&B, and the hospitality, cleanliness, and charm of the Captain David Kelley House is in a league of its own. We stayed in the Captain Baker room which had its own history within the history of the house. We were directly next to the common room which had 24 hours of coffee, books, quiet music, and a glowing fire place. Breakfast every morning was 3 courses, including fresh fruits and home made scones, with an additional delicious main course. The innkeepers, Rick and Tom, made the place seem like home for the time that we were there. We will definately come back and will be recommending the Captain David Kelley House to all our family and friends.

We stayed over in January and really enjoyed it. The house is charming and the owners were helpful. Plus they put on a great breakfast. The beach was close by -- the coast makes for a beautiful walk in January. Completely worth it. Go.

We had the pleasure of staying at Captain David Kelley House. This inn is so charming with two wonderful innkeepers Rick & Tom. They thought of so many details, fresh flowers in our room, (which was immaculate), a basket of goodies that was so thoughtful and just what we needed upon our arrival. We woke-up to the smell of a fresh breakfast, which was Quiche Lorraine, but the best part of the breakfast was the freshly baked scones...YUMMY!
We have recommended this beautifully maintain historical inn to our friends and family. If you like the charm and character of a quaint B & B , you will love Captain David Kelley house.

Two confessions: 1. Staying at countless B&Bs while traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada has made me a B&B snob. 2. This is the first time I have been motivated to submit on online review.

The Captain David Kelley House met all of my expectations for a positive B&B experience. My partner and I spent three nights at the inn and hope to visit again. History and architectural character were combined with color, warmth, and stellar hospitality to make for an exceptional stay. From the fresh flowers in our room to the mellow music to the artwork and antiques, we were enchanted as soon as we walked through the front door. Scattered throughout the inn are rich oriental carpets on gleaming hardwood floors. Elaborate crisp white moldings contrast with gorgeous wall-coverings. Our room and adjoining bath was a perfect mixture of color, texture, and patterns. We appreciate details, and the hosts have not overlooked anything. The bed was firm and comfortable. The best phrase to describe the full effect of the Capt. David Kelley House is “casual elegance.” Exquisitely appointed, but not over-done or ever uncomfortable, it is the essence of all things Cape Cod.

Hosts Tom and Rick are skilled at putting guests at ease and providing everything necessary. They are friendly and funny, but not overbearing. Breakfast was always substantial, creative, tasty, and filling. Fresh fruit and savory entrees were the order of every morning.

Stepping outside the inn is like walking into a New England postcard. Neat white clapboard homes with black shutters and picket fences line Main Street of Centerville. The steeple of a classic church rises above the red country store. The store sells artwork old-fashioned penny candy, and all the classic games and toys we enjoyed as youngsters. Around the corner is the most famous home-made ice cream stand on the Cape. Unfortunately it was closed for the season during our visit, but that is one more reason to return soon. Twice we strolled down the lane to Craigville Beach and picked up shells to take home.

Without question, The Captain David Kelley House is a jewel among B&Bs on the eastern seaboard. We look forward to the next opportunity to visit Cape Cod and relax on the porch of this historic and welcoming inn.

We came across Captain David Kelley House on the internet when planning a weekend trip for our family with two children (8 and 13) and my parents. It turned out to be a wonderful experience that we all enjoyed. The authentic atmosphere and elegance of the recently renovated old house, very comfortable beds and clean rooms, and most importantly, the pleasant and effective attention of the owners, Tom and Rick, all contributed to this. They were constantly helpful and made everything about our stay fun and easy. My wife loved the scones! We felt pampered from the moment we arrived until we left, but we also felt as relaxed as we would be at home.

I recently had the good fortune of staying in the Captain David Kelley House in Centerville, Cape Cod, MA. From the moment I entered this bed and breakfast I was enchanted. The period furnishings, wall paper, and decor are of another century, and added to the mistique of this sea captain's home. Each room has it's own personality, with charm and coziness as a common theme. The common area just outside of the kitchen is the ideal place to sit and chat, and would perfectly accommodate a book club discussion or a wine and cheese gathering. On top of the amazing accommodations, I was delighted to awaken to the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked, home-made scones and hot coffee. The owners, Rick and Tom, take delight in meeting the guests, but were never overbearing Located in the center of historic Centerville, you can easily walk to shops and restaurants. These are the elements that set this bed and breakfast head and sholders above others. I highly recommend the Captain David Kelley House to anyone considering a stay in Centerville, Mass.
Sincerely,
Dot Bergen

This B&B was an absolute delight. Being short on cash but wanting to give my wife a beautiful Valentine's day - I was immediately directed to the Captain David Kelley House. Tom and Rick would not have been more welcoming to us. Anything we asked - they did their best to suit our needs. The room was wonderful and the breakfast - to die for.
