Truly a very nice place to visit. It marks the end of mainland Massachusetts and the beginning of Cape Cod. The sagamore bridge offers the best view.

The bike path on both sides of the Cape Cod Canal provide an easy and accessible trip to view this lovely man-made canal. On the Cape side, one can ride from the Buzzard's Bay end, with the railroad bridge, to the Canal visitor center, run by the Army Corps of Engineers. The visitor center also abuts a nice beach and lengthy jetty into Cape Cod Bay. The visitor's center is worth a stop, with interesting displays and an informative, if a bit overly-long film on the history of the canal. The mainland side of the bike path runs from the other side of the railroad bridge, along the canal, to beatiful Scusset Beach, which has a large bathouse and snack bar. The railroad bridge is lowered once per day and is a treat to see in use. The mainland side of the bike path is more developed than the Cape side and provides more entry points onto the bike path. We like to park under the Bourne Bridge at the Bourne Recreation Area. Both sides of this bike path are about 7 miles long and are largely flat, which makes an easy ride for families. You can do both sides in a single day. Bike travel over the bridges is not facilitated, so you may need to drive your bikes over the bridge.
