“High quality at a competitive rate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

My wife and I stayed at this property in mid December of 2012. We were on a vacation to visit friends and family. We found the following to be noteworthy:

-This property is excellent quality and value for money; we paid $98 per night and this was near Christmas time.
-We note that the site is near the Burlington Mall and right off of route 95. Despite the proximity to the mall, the hotel is in a secluded area (greatly recessed from the street) and is quiet.
-The rooms were on the quality level of a strong Hilton or Marriott. The size of the room was ample (without being something to boast about). Fixtures were modern, functional, and attractive.
-Our room was quiet, noting it was a long walk from the elevator (our room # was 559).
-We enjoyed the exercise room, which included a small indoor pool and jacuzzi, a fitness room, and a separate weight room. The staff member at the fitness room was helpful.
-We did eat breakfast at the hotel's cafe; the breakfast buffet was outstanding and price was fair (perhaps $14 per head before tax, tip, or beverage).
-There is a small business center which had numerous computers and printers.
-All in all, this is a high quality property at a very competitive rate given it is in the Boston area (approximately 15 miles north of Boston).

Room Tip: We were in room 559 - the positive was it was quiet while the negative was it was a long walk from t...

My husband and I stayed here with our three kids. We had booked adjoining rooms, and I was pleasantly surprised that everything was taken care of at check-in. We've had experiences at other hotels where they have no record of the adjoining room request, and it becomes a major hassle to get it straightened out. Thankfully that was not the case here.

The rooms were nice - nothing special, but what you would expect from a Marriott. My kids had two double beds in their room, and it was an accessible room. While the bathroom was huge, I have no idea how someone in a wheelchair would have been able to navigate between the beds and dresser/tv stand - definitely not enough room there. However, it was perfectly fine for our needs. My husband and I had a king room. The first thing I do when I arrive at a hotel room is check the mattresses. Ours had a few dark marks/smudges on the corners, but not enough for me to call the front desk. The kids' beds were fine.

We ate at the pub in the hotel which was surprisingly uncrowded. It was nice that we were able to take the kids there, because the other restaurant in the hotel, Summer/Winter, while beautiful is also way more expensive (and would have been wasted on the kids).

Beds and pillows were comfortable, and everyone slept well. We didn't have any issues with hallway or neighboring room noise.

We had the breakfast buffet at the main restaurant in the morning. My husband said the omelette (prepared to order) was delicious - and he's a tough critic. Overall, they have a good variety of breakfast foods, and the fruit was fresh.

While our stay was brief, all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Boston Marriott Burlington for 2 nights during New Years weekend 2012. The front desk agent checked me in very quickly and professionally. I did not find her to be unfriendly in any way as past reviewers have noted. I expect a professional and courteous agent at a Marriott property and this young lady definitely was both. She was certain to acknowledge my Marriott Rewards status. There is a charge of 12.95 per day for internet at this property. At registration I asked about free Internet and was told for this weekend the internet was free. As a result I was not charged for the service.

I was give a room on the 9th floor. The view from the room was excellent with the Boston skyline in the distance. The elevators are very quick and I did not wait more that 1 minute for an elevator my entire stay. The room was clean and appeared to have been recently refurbished with the latest style furnishings. There are plenty on towels and the room appeared to have been cleaned properly. We previously requested extra pillows and they were in the room when we arrived. Our room was on the highway side and was very quiet. We did not hear any noise at all.

The pool and hot tub areas were clean. The ceiling was showing some rust and many of the panels need to be replaced. Some of the walls have been patched and need to be painted. This property allows local people to use the pool and also allows for people to use the facilities for physical therapy. While this makes the pool very busy everyone we encountered was friendly and courteous. The pool has an attendant at all times. There are plenty of towels and they never ran out of towels. We only saw one attendant a blonde lady actually keep the pool area clean. The other attendants simply sat at the desk. The pool is very large approx. 25' x 40'. The hot tub is very large with a diameter of about 12 feet. The temperature of the pool was shown to be 82 degrees with the hot tub at 102. I think the pool may have been warmer than 82 degrees and was perfect to spend a lot of time in. The exercise room and weight rooms are off the pool area and separated by doors from the pool. They seemed to be used quite often by guests and outside individuals. There is also a sauna that we did not use.

There is a breakfast buffet available for 18.95 per person. The typical menu of bacon, eggs, omelets, sausage, various pastries, breads, bagels, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice etc. They also have fresh waffles, bread pudding and a couple of items not usually seen on a typical Marriott breakfast. Our server Frank was excellent being both attentive and extremely professional.

Overall this is a very nice hotel. The staff is professional and courteous and helpful whenever asked. If the opportunity arises I would stay in the property again in the future.

Room Tip: High floors are quiet and have an excellent view of Boston

The night before an interview, a good night's sleep is essential. At this particular Marriott, if you happen to be unlucky enough to be stuck with a room on the odd-numbered side of the hotel on the fifth floor or above (seventh, in my case), you'll be subject to the ongoing drone being emitted by the various machinery on the roof below you. Bring ear plugs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the side of the building overlooking the roof with the various air conditio...

I had a very decent experience with the staff. No one gushed over my gold elite status but they did honor my request for the quietest room available. I also was given an early arrival/late check-out. The star of the property is Summer/Winter, the restaurant. I enjoyed the earthy setting, guitar music and of course the food. The bar area was busy but didn't intrude on the dining area(s) just steps away. Much to my delight, an outlet mall is located right behind the hotel. The huge Burlington Mall is down the road. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room away from the highway.

We were delighted with an unexpected upgrade to a very comfortable suite. As always, Summer Winter restaurant was delightful. Pool, sauna, gyms were wonderful. The shuttle ran at all hours and in all directions. Early check-in was no problem. If you can't find what you want in the massive mall, hotel personnel can send you to whatever you want.

A good night's sleep is the most important part of why you stay in a hotel. The Marriott has pillows with thick metal zippers on the side. If you don't move at all during the night, I guess you are fine, but if you adjust your pillows in the middle of the night, you can expect to wake up with scratches all over your hands and arms.

The room itself was cold, but since I was on the ground floor, it was constantly cold, despite the temperature of the thermostat. The room I had was a king bed room, and was spacious, clean, and had a good layout for plugging in your computer, blackberry, etc. I should mention that you enter the hotel on the 3rd floor, which means the 1st floor room is essentially underground. You can see light, but there is no view since the ground slopes from the upper floors to your room. You would think water would eventually leak into the room because of this, but there didn't seem to be any issues.

I had one dinner at the restaurant, Summer Winter, and this was pretty good. The prices were pretty high, but again the quality was good. Internet was $12.95 plus taxes, and it was pretty slow given that price. Marriott needs to re-examine the value to the customer for this.

There was free parking, easy access to the highway, and fast and efficient service. If not for the pillows, I would rate it a solid four stars.

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor, for a better view
