“A Huge Disappointment”
Reviewed June 12, 2008

We really looked forward to our first experience at Chillingsworth as we had heard so much about it from friends....Of our 6 nights eating out on Cape Cod this was our least favorite.....Service was slow as it took 2 and one half hours for 2 people to have dinner...Meals were just o.k. nothing special...I can't tell you how many wonderful restaurants there are on Cape Cod this is not one of them..

“Chilly service at Chillingsworth”
Reviewed May 27, 2008

Went for a special occassion dinner in the bistro. Left two hours and 15 minutes later without eating anything. Others I was with received their appetizers about 1 hr and 15 min after ordering, entrees arrived shortly thereafter, not all at once, and one was wrong order. MIne was simply inedible, cold and tasteless, did not resemble what I had ordered, and since the person who brought out my dish brought out the other wrong order I thought mine was wrong also and sent it back. The waitress was nothing short of rude and inexperienced, never checked in with us to tell us there was a problem in the kitchen. She never even stopped by the table to pour wine, offer bread, etc. The manager likewise never checked on customers, even though all the tables in the bistro were experiencing the same problem. A total disaster and nobody cared to take control.
Will never go back, as there are so many better places to go on the Cape.

“Tired”
Reviewed May 4, 2008

The Bistro menu is tired. No changes for years! The staff in the Bistro is poorly trained (or in training for the fine dining side).

The fine dining side? Fabulous! But who eats like that anymore. Jacket required. Five courses.

A beautiful building, true - but not handicapped accessible at all - and a menu that needs updating.

“OK”
Reviewed July 28, 2007

My husband and I went to Chillingsworth on a Sunday because
they offer a lunch or a brunch menu. We selected this restaurant because we had a gift certificate. The place was bright and
the wait staff was nice. The only problem was that they seemed
disorganized. We had to wait a long time to be served and to say the least the service was slow even though the wait staff seemed to be running through the room when they thought no one could see.
For the start of the meal we shared the mussels in a coconut sauce. The flavor was fine but the mussels were sandy and gritty.
The wine we selected was very good. It seemed like they only
brought us each a very small glass of wine. The meals were fine.
I had the chicken which was ok. My husband's swordfish was tastier. My husband had two cups of coffee. Both cups were only luke warm and very bitter.
All in all we will probably never go there again. There are many other restaurants on Cape Cod that offer a much more positive experience(example-The Golden Clove in Chatham).
