Small, family run French Bistro in a wisteria covered cottage. Very different, but charming. Menu is on two blackboards and somewhat limited. The husband is a trained chef. Wife is the hostess/waitress. Family helps during the summer. Entrees are served in skillets right from the stove. Our meals were excellent. Short, but affordable wine list. No reservations. AMEX or cash, only.

Thank Kevin R

As I write this review I worry that a lot more people will then "discover" this gem, but impossible not to share such a find. It is traditionally French, the decor is "shabby chic/French" with very comfortable sitting, they don't take reservations and open at 5:30 pm. Note: they only take Amex. Owners wife (Beth) and husband (Alain) do live in the premises and they team up to provide you with one of the best experiences your palate will encounter in the Mid Cape. The food is simply delightful, fresh ingredients and passion for cooking were present in every dish we tried. The escargots for appetizers were nicely seasoned, some of the dishes were presented in the skillets they were prepared in, like the duck a l'orange (superb) and the bolognese pasta our 10 yo had ("just like in Italy dad!") Without a doubt the star of the night was the Coq au vin! It was as good (or even better) than the last we had in Paris a few months back. For dessert we indulged in chocolate mousse and the traditional cream brûlée (of course) but by far the dessert that's a must is the profiteroles with ice cream and home made chocolate sauce. Their wine list, although small, really pairs well with the food. All and all one of the best meals we've had in a while, au revoir!

First impression when you arrive, you wait for Jed Clampett to greet you in the car lot. Much to our surprise...the place is owner/chef owned. The decor, cleanliness and dinner was exceptionable. One draw back;
the Peddler only accepts AmX and cash. Worth it...try it.

This cozy restaurant is run by a French chef and his American wife. The food is truly delicious and the service friendly. I can't wait for them to reopen in the spring! I highly recommend this gem.
