“Usually top notch...”
Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

We have gone here several time over a few years, maybe it was early season jitters as the food and service is typically top notch, not this time though. Drink service was slow to say the least, with drinks showing up halfway through each course despite being ordered with ample time before each course. Oysters were perfect, well shucked and presented. Calamari on the other hand was a bit over cooked, tough, seemed hastily prepared, dipping sauce was tasty though. Fish chowder was heavy handed with the butter, who doesn't like butter but this was way too rich, not much in the way of fish, small bits of potato. Monk fish main was again a bit over cooked, but everything else on the plate blended well, seasoned, was a decent dish. Hanger steak was undercooked, well below med.rare, tough, but again everything else on the plate was decent. 3 others at the table had small issues with their dishes, overall though it was good, we just expect more consistency, more attentive service and care from this restaurant as it is one of the few on the Cape that truly is quite good. We'll be back for sure, just hope the preseason jitters will have passed.

“More upscale than the name implies”

Food well-prepared but on the pricy side. We had cod and fried calamari. Both were very good. I think we were expecting a more down-to-earth restaurant, but other than that, were not disappointed.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

We arrived on Easter Sunday a little after 5 when service begins. A bistro feel with lovely spring flowers in a small space with a lovely little bar...servers were friendly yet professional...when I dipped my sleeve into the bright yellow curry butter sauce someone was there in an instant with club soda and a napkin! We started with well made cocktails...a manhattan and a dirty martini and two appetizers to share...a special of local mussels in a curry butter sauce (heavenly...I wanted to drink the rest of the sauce!). And fried calamari with house made kimchee and garlic aoli...both winners. There were two Warm fresh ciabatta rolls with butter. Entrees were prosciutto wrapped monkfish with mashed potatoes and grilled ramps and mushrooms and the pierogi...two nicely seared buttery and cheesy dumplings served with loads of fresh peas and chanterelles. Dessert was the weakest part but we enjoyed sharing the chocolate plate....quenelles of fudgsicle sorbet and chocolate mousse and a slightly dry chocolate bread pudding with a chocolate pine nut sauce. Good coffee completed the meal. We were also able to find a nice red wine for a reasonable price. All in all this was one of the best meals we've had since moving to Cape Cod.

“consistently yummy”

never a mediocre meal, always exactly what you want in a dining experience, this owner operated eatery is among the few truly reliable restaurants in the area, it's only drawback being its popularity, not to invite any Yogi Berra-isms.

“Pricey, but fresh and delicious!”

The Brewster Fish House stands out as one on the Cape's finest. Don't miss the lobster bisque; I MUST order it every time I eat there.
