“Cozy, quiet inn with friendly innkeeper.”
Reviewed July 12, 2010

I felt comfortable at the Pepper House Inn. The rate was very reasonable for the 4th of July weekend. The breakfast was good too. Debbie, the innkeeper, was always friendly and had helpful advise on where to go and what to do. The overall appeal of the house was a little tired looking, but clean. My friend had a bit of trouble with her allergies because the house had been built so long ago (Debbie mentioned 200 years old). You cannot beat the location. Parking was free and so was the wireless internet, which was a plus.

Pepper House is a historical place, a 200 years old building, clean and cozy. The location is prime: closed to downtown, to restaurants, to highways, etc. This Inn is deliciously quiet, you can enjoy the get-away, and feel almost home, specially eating the home style full breakfast. Furthermore, the owner is knowledgeable regarding the Cape Cod area+ she pleasantly helps you with places you want to visit. We fully recommend the Pepper House to anyone, and yes, we will visit again.

I came to Brewster for a family funeral and booked 3 nights at the Pepper House Bed and Breakfast. It was in a perfect location for me, close to everything in town. The innkeepers (especially Debby) were very accomodating and helpful with local information as well as directions. Homemade breakfast every morning was provided. My room was very nice and clean, large bathroom with separate tub and shower. I highly recommend staying here if in the area and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Rather than welcomed and pampered, we were made uncomfortable here! Although the location of the inn is ideal within walking distance of the beach, Brewster General store, and restaurants, the accomodations are not up to the expected bed and breakfast standards. The whole facility is run down; musty and smelly living room with piles of magazines everywhere and little sticky notes warning guests "kitchen not for guest use" and "don't use this door", etc. Guests are asked to lock the inn door if they are the last ones in at night which we viewed as a safety issue. There are NO extras here...no carafes of tea or coffee or fruit or cookies in the afternoon...not even ice available! (Remember, kitchen is closed!) Breakfast is served from 8-10 am. We came in from jogging at 8 am and asked for coffee to take to our room while we showered and dressed and were refused! We were told we would be "served" in the dining room! The breakfast was cooked to order, but the couple next to us did not have their meals served at the same time...one was finished eating by the time the other meal arrived.

My husband and I stayed at The Pepper House Inn for two nights - we were on a two week holiday over from England. We just called in on spec as we hadn't booked and Debbie happened to be there, luckily for us. She showed us the room -the only room that was vacant was the Family room, and it was huge, and very comfortable. We found Debbie and her parents very friendly and very helpful, giving us plenty of info on what there is to do on the Cape. This is a relaxed and homely B and B, andt it is a lovely historical building so we were thrilled to be staying in a sea captains house! We have no complaints about our stay, the room was comfy, clean and full of character, and our hostess was extremely friendly and helpful; breakfast good and home cooked. My only suggestion would be to put a kettle and some tea-bags/coffee in tne room, as this would mean you could have a hot drink in your room, something that is usual at B and B's in England. Would recommend to friends, and stay there again if we got the chance.

My wife and I booked two separate inns by mistake but we were glad we did in the end. Arriving mid afternoon at The Pepper Mill, we found the property unkempt, with the weeds, shrubs and grass in bad need of trimming, the house needing paint and the interior just looking "tired". We stayed instead at the other inn we booked nearby, a lovely, expansive property, well kept and well back from the main road (6A). The rooms were actually less!
The Pepper Mill was not able to rent the room for any of the three days we booked despite being the busiest week of the summer but after seeing the condition of the property, we were not surprised. We were not able to recoup our loss (we had paid in full in advance which I will never do again) but that again was our fault. Live and learn!

These folks never stayed at our Inn! They did make a reservation, came to check in 3 1/2 hours early at 11:30 a.m. The departing guests had just checked out and the room was not ready. They had also double booked at another property. I told them the situation and they said they would come back. Then they cancelled. They never even saw the room. This room has brand new Cherry furniture that many guests have raved about.

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Pepper House. The Inn is run by a lovely family, who are very gracious, and extremely knowledgeable of Cape Cod (and many other places, too). Breakfast was very healthy, tasty, and offered several options. The Pepper House is within walking distance to antique shops, restaurants, general store, ice cream. We stayed in the Green room, the linens were soft and high quality, the bed and sofa very comfortable, the air conditioning kept the room at the perfect temperature. The bathroom was lovely, bright and very spacious. There is a sitting room, and a screened porch to lounge inn, as well as a private yard. We have stayed in many B&Bs, and by far this is one of our favorites. The hosts were great to us, they ensured our stay was wonderful. We would definitely recommend it, and hope to return!
