Motel 6 Boston South - Braintree
Ranked #6 of 7 Hotels in Braintree
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Certainly nothing to get excited about, but at the time we researched rates, it was the lowest available rate within a 15 mile radius around Boston.
Everything was just as you would expect from a budget motel, OK, bathroom not clean upon arrival but manager on duty rectified that perfectly within less than 5 minutes.

Coming in from Europe late at night it was still very easy to find our way from Logan airport to Motel 6 Braintree which is coveniently located just one exit south of I 93 on Highway 3. The service at the reception was quick and competent, the room was basically furbished but brightly lit due to two large neon tubes. We appreciated the cleanliness of the floor which was made of this usual fluffy lice-breeding carpet but of oldfashioned linoleum.
In spite of their low rates the management should have afforded free internet access for their customers instead of an embarrassing 3$ fee. Never mind.
If you are hungry, dont try the (included) continental breakfast but drive one block west into Braintree where there are cozy places that serve breakfast and also dinner at reasonable prices.
Besides evrything else one advantage is the location: just walk across the street and you'll be at Braintree Metro Station, where trains will take you on a 2.50$ ride to downtown Boston in about 25 minutes. This will save you time, money and stress coping with trafffic jams, full and overprized parking lots and crazy drivers.
If you need just a value-for-money-place to sleep well after or before an exhausting touristic adventure on the Freedom Trail in Boston, Motel 6 in Braintree will for sure be this clean, well-lit place

The pictures were spot on. We wanted a place that wasn't too expensive, but easy to get into Boston. We booked it for one night and decided to stay 2 nights. No coffee in rooms, no breakfast, but right next to commuter train. Walked across the street and hopped on train. For $5 round trip and a 1/2 hr ride, we were in the Boston Common. Train goes until midnight so we didn't have to hurry around Boston.

Ask for room in back of motel 2nd floor. Both nights a police officer was in the parking lot. Made me feel better although not sure why he was there both nights. Hopefully watching over us. Towels are not the best, but not threadbaren either. We didn't spend any time in the room except to sleep. Stop and get muffins and fruit for the morning at Dunkin Donuts if you need to eat before riding into Boston. Coffee is in the office in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd floor room and maybe in the back to be a little quieter.

As Canadians who were traveling a long way from home, we were a little concerned after reading the reviews of this motel, but were very pleasantly surprised once we saw it. The rooms have been updated and the staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed for 6 nights and they even checked to see if we could get a better price by taking the room for 7 nights. Location was perfect, we could take the commuter train to Boston - the best method for site-seers or take advantage of the easy access to the freeway. If you are looking for comfortable accommodations in the Boston area this filled the bill. If you want something better, stay at home.

Room Tip: Rooms at a distance from the office, in the south building are quieter.

Boston motels/hotels are notoriously expensive and we wanted to spend our traveling dollars on something other than a bed and a shower. This motel fits the bill perfectly - it is older but has been remodeled - flat screen TV, wood look floors, platform beds that have room to store luggage underneath, no ugly dressers that you never use anyway. It is an EXCELLENT location adjacent to the "T" - Boston's subway system - and made for easy access to the heart of the city (no parking or traffic issues). Our room was clean and the front desk staff couldn't have been nicer - Lynne was knowledgeable about the subway and gave us pointers on how to use it.

Had to make a quick overnight trip for a memorial service. The Boston hotel scene is crowded and overpriced, of course, and it took a bit of searching and review-reading before I settled on this one. I booked a non-smoking room, which by default was set up with 2 double beds. Front desk was very friendly, checked me in quickly, and provided me with a new iron by my request. These are no longer supplied in the rooms, but you can get one at the desk for use during your stay. The new Motel 6 room remodel is a spartan affair; it appears designed for low cost and ease of cleaning & maintenance. No carpet; a bamboo floor covering is made for mopping. No box-springs; Euro-style platform beds make the bedding unit vacuumable. Recessed lighting fixtures and modular tables. This type of room used to go for about 65 bucks not so long ago, but it took 100 clams to book this one. On the bright side, the concrete-blockhouse construction insulated the room from outside traffic noise. Overall, a good firm bed, quiet and fully operational A/C, and a hot shower, then out the door early in the morning. Location looks to be ultra-convenient for public rail transit, and is a short drive from many retail and restaurant choices. Dinner suggestion: Nearby Campanale's was a great local Italian restaurant. Very minimal on the creature comforts, but would stay again.

Room Tip: Property has 2 buildings, both 2-story concrete, central stairwell, rooms front and back. Very basic...

I was traveling for business in the Braintree area and couldn’t find a room for less than $150/night. So, we read the Motel 6 reviews on Trip Advisor and thought, “How bad could it be?” Well, it wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t that great either. The location couldn’t be better—right next to the T station and a jump away from the rotary that leads to several arteries. The front desk clerk was helpful and friendly. The cost of wireless was right--$3/day, but it was incredibly slow and it continually kicked me off the network; a major hassle to try to get any kind of work done on the net. The room was…sparse. Two double beds, a table bolted to the wall, two kitchen chairs. No hairdryer, no tissues, no clock. No shampoos or lotion (but there were two small bars of soap). No carpet on the floors—bamboo flooring, which keeps things a little cleaner, but gives it an institutional feel. The 32 inch flat screen was nice. The room was surface clean, but there were a myriad of stains on the bed covering. I did NOT sit on the bed spread. This, above all, was the grossest thing. The bed was not the most comfortable, but not too bad. It was a platform, so no box spring. The sinks were not cleaned daily but the showers appeared to be. Several reviews described bugs or cigarette burns, but I didn’t see any. The shower had good pressure each day. Overall, the price was right, but I don’t think I’ll be staying here again. It was just too sketchy for my taste.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back, as it's quieter.
