“Bike The Cape Cod Canal!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2014

A very scenic, traffic free and flat place to bike ride. This is a great place to get back into biking because it is flat and traffic free. A perfect location for a family biking outing. We biked it at a fairly leisurely pace and felt no pressure from more 'advanced' bikers. This can be a great 'first stop' to a day of exploring the cape.

“Sweet Ride by the Canal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

We rode the bike path along the Cape Cod Canal this morning and it was a great time. A mere seven miles long, the path hugs the shore of the canal on both sides - we rode the south side after parking at the lot on the Canal Service road in Bourne. The summer sun glimmered off of the deep blue canal water as cormorants and ospreys dived for their lunch in the choppy water as pleasure boats, trawlers and commercial cruise boats steamed through the clear cool sea. The path takes riders under the Cape Cod Railroad bridge, and the soaring Bourne and Sagamore car bridges. The trail is flat and smooth, an easy ride for all ages, with a nice payoff at the end once you ride around the Sandwich Marina and end up at the peaceful and beautiful jetty and beach facing Cape Code Bay. The trail is filled with walkers and joggers and fisherman who line the shore of the canal hoping for the catch-of-the-day. A total 15.6 mile round trip makes for a great workout, and a lovely stroll of a magnificent section of Massachusetts that does not get its just desserts.
