“Not the best for tent campers.”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

When booking our first stay, I asked the clerk via telephone about road noise. I could tell via the internet that it was right off a road. She said there is not much road noise. But she didn't say it was a major highway. We are tent campers and the tent sites are up front so we had road noise all day and well into the night. We were very disappointed with our site. Otherwise, the campground is very clean and the staff is very nice.

This was my family's first trip to Bay View and it will surely not be our last! We had a wonderful time at the pools and the kids couldn't get enough of all the activities. I am not a camper at heart but this place made me feel very comfortable with modern and very clean restrooms, store, and snack bar. The wifi worked great at our site, 169, as did the cable. There was even a beautiful "Bay View" from our site! There were moments I felt so relaxed and at ease knowing the kids were having a great time and the staff really went above and beyond to try and make us happy. While at first the posting of a lot of rules made me weary I soon understood they were there to help everyone have a good time (like the quiet hours) and keep everyone safe (like the speed limit posting). The sites were pretty large and had trees between us and our neighbor and while some of the sites right next to the highway could hear some traffic, even just one row back it was a very peaceful place. We are so happy that we chose this campground for our vacation and we can't wait to go back next month!

We stayed here with a family group using four adjacent sites.

THE GOOD: The snack bar is clean, priced fairly, and offers good food. The camping store offers a decent selection. One of the folks in our party had an odd issue with their camper, and the store actually had the parts needed to fix it. The pools are clean. Although it was crowded, we were able to secure seats at the pool if we were patient, which can sometimes be difficult at other campgrounds. They offer a dog park, and have multiple stations offering bags to pick up after pets. We often saw staff driving around in golf carts sprucing up the park. The roads are curvy, making a walk more enjoyable. There are numerous pathways so that it is easy to navigate the park on foot. SOME of the staff are very friendly.

THE BAD: Upon checking in, we found out that there are additional charges for EVERYTHING! This would have been more palatable, except the cashier seemed to get such enjoyment out of adding another $10 or $15 charge to our bill. (This made me wonder if they are paid on commission.) While some of the staff are very friendly, there are a few people working there who need to leave. One woman at the lower pool spent most of the day picking out one or two children to 'target' for reprimands the entire time they were in the pool. Unfortunately, she seemed to pick heavier kids to target, which was upsetting. She didn't target our kids, but it was obvious what she was doing. The restrooms were absolutely filthy, and I never saw anyone clean the restrooms at the lower pool the entire time we were there. I'm sure they emptied the trash and filled the paper products at night, but the same bug piles and scraps of paper were on the floor the entire time we visited. Another reviewer talked about the abundance of rules, and they are right on target. Nearly every surface is covered with lists of rules, and they are NOT applied fairly. Some teens are allowed offsite to loudly roam the park in the evening, others are not. Some kids are allowed to run towards the pool and dive OVER the heads of swimmers, and some are not allowed to simply jump in from the very side of the pool. They offer TV hookups, but they regularly went on the fritz when it rained, and offered few channels. The Wi-Fi is spotty, and dropped the connection so often that it quickly became useless. Normally we wouldn't worry about cable or Wi-Fi, but there were NO ACTIVITIES for the kids. Generally parks have something to offer, but Bay View does not seem to be set up for children. It seems like they are geared up for seasonal campers, not visiting kids. Last, but not least, trying to get in and out of the campground onto Route 28 put our life in danger because the traffic is crazy. To head back towards the bridge with your camper you must quickly accelerate to 65 mph while attempting to get immediately into the left lane to make a U-Turn. Frightening!

Normally, I wouldn't bother to post a review. However, we were mislead by the internet hype around Bay View, and I want to spare another family from having a bad experience!

This was our family's first and only experience at this campground. While the general amenities were good (well-maintained pool, fairly comprehensive general store, clean restrooms), the sites were very small and the surroundings were incredibly noisy. While sitting next to the fire pit we were within fifteen feet from people at the neighboring sites; even their casual talking was clearly audible. The noise was fine if you enjoy highway traffic (the grounds sit within a half mile from the nearby major route). The most ridiculous part of the experience was the disposal truck that emptied a dumpster (and slammed it to the ground) at three in the morning!

We stayed here for Mother's Day weekend with our 7yo and two dogs, and found this large campground to be quite comfortable and well set-up, although it was very close to a busy highway and we could hear traffic noise from time to time. The sites are very close together but fairly roomy, with a picnic table and nice fire pit at each one. We at first thought we were being charged too much for the $7 firewood bundles, then realized what generous bundles they were. We loved the fenced in dog park to let the dogs romp around in, and the store/ice cream parlor was fun - we tried 4 of their 17 different flavors. The roads through the campground were great to ride bikes on, with many seasonal set-ups to look at, and the playground had lots of things to do. The pools (3) weren't open yet, but they looked great. The shower stalls were quite small but there were plenty of them and I found them to be acceptably clean. All in all, a nice "home base" for exploring Cape Cod.

The campground was very clean, had 3 really nice pools and we really enjoyed our stay. The little restaurant was good and our kids had fun at the playgrounds and rec hall. Staff was warm and helpful when we asked about finding a beach and the other campers were so friendly and inviting. Overall a great place to spend a few nights away and relax.
