“Peaceful and faithful to its history”

We stayed at Baird Tavern in early October. It was comfortable, welcoming and truly full of the character of of the late 1700's. It was not cluttered with stuff, yet everywhere one turned, there was a piece of history. I loved the warm wood and the clean, pleasant smell of the walls and floors. Our room was wonderful and while perfectly in the period, it had a very comfortable bed and all of the amenities - we felt nothing lacking.
Carolyn is a perfect hostess, respectful of privacy and caring of her guests. She recommended a great hike. Wonderful breakfast nook, looking out on the gardens and sunrise.
The Tavern is also nicely located, near the lakes in the Berkshires, Stockbridge, Lennox, etc.

My husband and I recently took a short break from our hectic schedules to spend a long weekend at the Baird Tavern Bed and Breakfast. The first thing we noticed was the authenticity of the house – the house itself (built in 1768) and the furnishings (which are period) do take you back in time. Carolyn was a welcoming and wonderful hostess who gave us a tour of the house and shared its history. She also took time to share stories with us about her ancestors – whose photographs are beautifully arranged in the second floor hallway.
We stayed in the Bartholomew Room, which has a shared bathroom. Although we usually prefer a private bathroom, the arrangement worked well. There is also a half bath on the first floor. Carolyn prepared a delicious breakfast both mornings. If you can, spend one morning in the kitchen, which has a large window and lets the sunshine pour in. You can talk with Carolyn while she prepares breakfast. The house also has a library and plenty of places to tuck away with a book. And Clark, her quiet and gentle dog, will make you feel welcome as well. We hope to return.

What a unique property. My husband and I felt as if we had traveled back in time, but retained the creature comforts of the 21st century. Anyone who appreciates 18th century architecture will love this old tavern with its original fireplaces, wide plank floors and authentic furnishings. Our breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon was delicious, and Clark the dog was a hit as well. Carolyn is a thoughtful steward of a special place, and we are glad we had a chance to experience it.

We stayed at the Baird Tavern this weekend, thinking it would make a perfect stopover, as we traveled over and back to a show in NY. While the show was wonderful, our "stopover" was even better. Carolyn greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome. We slept soundly -- bed was comfortable, room temperature perfect. We awakened to the best blueberry pancakes (and fresh-squeezed orange juice) we've ever tasted. This morning's breakfast -- omelettes and hash browns -- was also great, and the conversation and good company made us feel as if we had been visiting a friend.

We'll be looking for a reason to return. Soon.

We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary with a long weekend at the Baird Tavern B&B. The owner and her sweet dog make you feel like you belonged here all along. The tavern, which has been in her family for decades, is so beautifully decorated yet so comfortable and homey. In the woodstove heated country kitchen, Carolyn treats you to delicious breakfasts of blueberry pancakes, homemade apple butter and omelets made with fresh local eggs and vegetables. We traveled to various museums and did some hiking nearby, but coming back to the tavern gave us a relaxing ending to our days. We will be going back, hopefully soon!

A wonderful stay at an authentic 1700's road tavern. A hostess that took us in like family, and fed us a breakfast like no other. Bring comfy clothes, and a laid back attitude. You'll be glad you spent some time here.

Baird Tavern is a warm, welcoming and comfortable place to say while in the Berkshires. Carolyn Taylor is delightful and knows the area well. She recommended 2 places for hiking, and we were thrilled with both of them. Breakfasts were fabulous! We will definitely return to the Baird for another visit.
