“Good, but not worth the high rate”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2013

Very good hotel. Clean, quiet (3rd floor), but the room is too small, and no breakfast included with the rate so high. It would not be my first choice on my next visit to Beverly. The place, outside, is beautiful, specially on this time of the year. But there isn't much on a walking distance, we would have to take the car everywhere.

While we’re glad that you found our location to be beautiful and spotless, we’re upset to learn that we would not be your first choice for your next trip to Beverly, Massachusetts. The Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College offers a Bed & Breakfast Package that includes breakfast in our Fountain Café & Bar, which may be helpful in the future. We hope that you’ll reconsider and take advantage of one of our packages for an additional stay. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

My husband and I planned a trip to Salem in October. Since all of the B&B's have a two to three night minimum stay requirement at an average of $285+ a night, we needed something a little more in our price range. We booked through Booking.com and was able to reserve our room for $189 a night. The highlights of this hotel are: Free wi-fi, 15 minute drive from downtown Salem, hotel has a taxi service ($23 roundtrip) to Salem, and most importantly the rooms were spotless. As the other reviewers stated the rooms are very small, pretty basic, nothing fancy but they were clean and up to date looking, not run down and disgusting. Parking may be an issue if there is a wedding next door, there is additional parking across the street. The on-site restaurant is not open very late and does have a very small menu. There is nothing near by in terms of walking distance to bars or other restaurants, only the college. If you are looking to book a room to visit Salem I recommend the Wyllie Inn as a budget friendly place to stay.

Thank you for your recommendation of the Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College! Salem, Massachusetts is an exciting place to visit in the fall, especially with all of the Haunted Happenings events taking place! Because our area is quite small, we recently added the Fountain Cafe to the Inn so that guests would have a place to grab a quick meal after what may have been long hours of traveling or events. Our staff members always have great recommendations for local restaurants and we hope that you will not hesitate to ask on your next visit to the Inn. We’re glad that our immaculate accommodations met your expectations. It would be a pleasure to have you back at the Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College on your next trip to Salem, Massachusetts.

It's a nice place, nothing spectacular to mention, but very clean and a nice woodsy path thru the woods and you end up at at the ocean.
I dont know why a review said no restaurant because there is one that has breakfast & dinner hours and a bar. You can get coffee or tea anytime in the lobby. Only about a 7 minute drive to Salem. We stayed on a saturday night on the 1st floor and it was quiet. I would stay again :-)

We only stopped here as we were heading west towards Salem and hadnt seen lodgings for quite a while.
The lobby was full of students, and I had to enquire if this was a hotel or a student dorm.
Obviously the place prospers because visiting parents stay here. I guess they receive a discount.
At $190 per room (after tax) I would have expected a bigger room and better facilities. Certainly a restaurant that offered more than beer and burgers in a TV-dominated environment.
Front desk staff did not display any enthusiasm or hospitality.
Probably the worst value stay of our 5 weeks in USA.

On a positive note, a local in the hotel 'restaurant' suggested we dine at Hale St Tavern which was excellent.

Travelled as a (mature age Australian) couple for five weeks around East Coast USA. Generally did not book ahead, prefer to have freedom to linger as we please, and to actually see the room before we commit. Have travelled this way many times before in USA and Europe. Stayed at a variety of hotels and B+Bs from 3 to 5 star. In busy areas (Quebec City, NYC) we booked in advance from Tripadviser reviews or similar websites.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us at the Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College. As we are located on Endicott’s campus, we often assist the college’s professors with internships and tours for their students pursuing the hospitality industry. The group of students you’re referring to was most likely on a tour of our facilities. The Inn recently added the Fountain Cafe and Bar as an amenity to our guests looking for light dining fare for breakfast or dinner. That way, guests do not have to go off property after a potentially long day of traveling. Because it’s not meant to be a full service restaurant, we always offer our guests recommendations on Beverly’s outstanding dining establishments. We will definitely re-address our service standards with our staff members to be sure we do not appear unfriendly to any guest at any time during their stay. Should you return to our area, we hope that we will have another opportunity to serve you and provide you the stay that you deserve.

We stayed at this hotel because it is right across the street from Endicott College where our son goes to school. We mainly stayed for the convenience of the location. We stayed here once and now stay a distance away since the Wylie is way too expensive even with a college discount. The rooms are tiny and there was nothing special about it. The halls were a little dirty. The small cafe downstairs is expensive. The staff was nice enough but when we left there was a long line checking out as it was orientation weekend and everyone had to leave at the same time to get to the campus. Even though it's the closest hotel to Endicott we'll drive the distance to go somewhere else unless they lower their prices.

Discovering that your stay with us at the Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College was not everything it should have been is truly disappointing. When guests share their concerns with us, we take it very seriously and we will be sure to take your suggestions into consideration. As we often serve the college’s parents, conferences, and social events, our facility can sometimes be a busy location. The Wylie Inn is a small, intimate Inn that does become busy over some peak days at Endicott and it was unfortunate that the line to check in was longer because of this. Recently, we completed a renovation of our guest rooms and we wish that your accommodations met your expectations. Our hallways are usually immaculate and we will share your comments with our housekeeping staff. Thank you for providing us with your input. It is our hope that you will give the Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College another chance.

Average motel in a very beautiful surroundings. You greet by boring, Motel 6 kind of personnel and proceed to the small room. On a Saturday nigh hotel is full of drunken people coming over from the wedding party held in the near by mansion. We had a very disappointing stay. The only bright spot is a coffee shop downstairs who unfortunately works only until 10:30 am

Whether it’s positive or otherwise, we’re always grateful to receive comments from our guests. It’s unfortunate that your stay fell short of your expectations. Our staff is always friendly and willing to assist you whenever needed and your experience was certainly out of character for us. Although the coffee shop downstairs closes after breakfast, complimentary coffee and tea is served in our lobby all day long. We are incredibly sorry for any disruptions and oversights that you encountered during your stay. It is our hope that we’ll have an opportunity to provide you a pleasurable stay in the future.

My wife and me stayed 2 nights at the Wylie Inn and conference center on Friday and Saturday September 15and 16, 2013.The first night Friday was very quiet and the room on the third floor was clean and spacious. However on most Saturdays the inn caters to Weddings unbeknown to us and we got no sleep at all on Saturday Night as the wedding guests roamed the halls rapping on doors, screaming and shouting till 4 am on Sunday morning. At two am and again at 3 am I called security and find they are unable to control their Drunken guests some of them not even a paying registered guests, This inn looks only at the bottom line of Cash and not the comfort of each and every Guest. This is too bad because the inn is well located in Beverly Mass. and is otherwise very acceptable even though pricey. I would not stay there again and Cannot recommend it for Saturday night Stays.

Room Tip: Just avoid a stay which includes a Saturday night.

From the bottom of our hearts, we offer our sincerest apologies and we hope that you’ll reconsider and allow us to provide you a much better stay. Never hesitate to reach out to our front desk staff; they are always happy to relocate you to a better room when they can.
