I drove by this unassuming storefront on a Saturday, saw a long line out the front door and decided to see what the fuss was about. Phenomenal authentic food it turns out. The beef soup had deep flavorful broth, fresh noodles and tender beef. This place is worth the trip.

Shangri-La is one of our favorite places to go for their Taiwanese Breakfast (Brunch) dishes. The fried dough (crullers) are exceptional with sweet soybean milk. We usually order three or four dishes when just the two of us - and much more when we bring friends. We have also found that coming a bit later (and avoiding those who like to stand in line so they can be there first) gives us a more pleasant experience since the staff are no as frazzled as when they open. Most highly recommended!

Chinese food has been in America so long it become its own entity. While Shangri-la offers a handful of those Americanized staples it is quite different from most. It serves a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes just as you would find them in China. How many Chinese restaurants do you know that serve Ox Tail in brown sauce, cold pig ear salad, or sea cucumber with fish tripe? The menu is so diverse it offers well over 200 dishes from meek and mild to blow-your-head-off-spicy. You can see how popular it is by the long lines of Chinese diners who line up outside for brunch each Saturday and Sunday. I highly recommend trying this unusually authentic Chinese restaurant. It enjoys a reputation as being the best Chinese outside Chinatown. I'll admit I dine here pretty much weekly.

We always over order, because we love the food hot, cold, reheated and straight out of the box. Shangri-La offers a wide variety of food for those people who are looking for genuine Chinese and those folks, like me, who still like the typical Scallian Pancake and Spare Ribs. I've been disappointed once with my lunch choice - spicy pork, but otherwise, we never get tired of ordering from here. The only negative is the fact that they don't deliver.
