Dance performances can be uneven, but for another amazing season, the variety of dance at Jacob's Pillow continues to inspire and impress. We are almost half way through, so be sure to get up toe the Berkshires to see at least one show. Classic ballet to off beat modern expressionist outta da box wild stuff - the dance is consistently top of its game. Last week it was the Hong Kong Ballet - 16 of the strongest most graceful dancers beautifully choreographed that I have ever seen. This week it is Bill T Jones. Cant wait.
Since there are two stages performing, one in the Ted Shawn theatre and one in the smaller Doris Duke, the best of us will get back to the Pillow two times a week for two performances. And we will try to get there early to catch the In Side Out performance takes place on the dance platform overlooking the mountains before the main stage events. Tho' uneven, these more casual outside experiences are free and an opportunity for aspiring dancers to be seen. It is great fun to be watching dance - inside and out.
In a few short weeks, when Labor Day has passed, the season will be over and the quiet of the barns and barracks will return - an eerie silence in these hills compared to the constant bustle and energy that is on the Pillow campus now.
