Went here on a Thursday night during summer on the Cape, but the restaurant was fairly empty around 8pm. Was a little concerned considering how nice appointed the restaurant was that I was wearing a golf shirt and ball cap, but there was no hesitation by the staff to seat us and we were treated nicely.
Atmosphere is very nice with linen on the tables, fresh flowers, and nice hardwood chairs. Clean restaurant and nicely lit. A handful of tables are in each of a handful of separate rooms. Service on the night was very good. All was prompt and accurate. Timing and friendliness were there as well.
Instead of bread and butter, we were given a plate of three types of crackers, and an herbed cream cheese. Enjoyable, but there was probably a little too much for the two of us. Bread and butter actually did come later with our meals. Three different types of bread including what both of us considered the BEST CORNBREAD WE HAVE EVER HAD - light, fluffy, moist, and a strong sense of corn. Yum!
For an app, we ordered the Two Barnstable Stuffed Quahogs. This was really a good value and enough of an app for two. The price was $5.99, though you could order a single one for $3.99. These are large stuffed on the half shell. A good amount of clam inside and really good flavor. Would recommend the offered Tabasco to kick them up a notch, but they are fine without it as well. Could have made a meal from these - but I was already at carb overload.
Despite the large seafood-oriented menu, we ordered off the specials menu which had a large number of options. I got the baked scallops with a crab and Parmesan cream sauce. The wife got the macadamia nut-crusted swordfish. While not identified on the menus, both items came with two small baked potatoes and green beans. The beans were fresh and lightly dressed. The potatoes were rubbed with butter? and sea salt? Regardless, you didn't need to add anything to them. There were good just as they were. Only point of issue was that there was maybe a little too much potato. One would have been too little, two were too many. But that's a minor gripe.
Meal, including app, two drinks, two entrees, tip and tax came to under $74. A very good meal where we'd often spend over $100. Highly recommended.
