Description: Dear Customers, My name is Andrew Quach, and I am one of the managers at Gourmet Inspirations. I lived in the Wheaton area for 18 years and have eaten at Good Fortune many times. My partners and I are very aware of the history and connection that the restaurant had within the community, so an important goal for us is to work hard to maintain the same consistency and quality of food that Good Fortune provided to its customers for the past 30 years. To assist us in our efforts, we have been fortunate to retain the services of the executive chef, chef de cuisine, and dim sum chef, all of whom were a part of the previous kitchen staff and have been working together for over 20 years. We hope this will allow us to continue serving authentic Cantonese Cuisine and Dim Sum to all our customers for many years to come. We have undergone an extensive renovation project in order to update the facility and provide a more contemporary environment. Our name and decor have changed but our commitment to customer satisfaction will not. If at any time during your dining experience an issue or problem comes up please inform me or one of my partners (Steve or Kathy) and we will take care of the situation. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the near future.

There are lots of dim sum places in the DC area. Good Fortune is adequate but no better than average. Veggies (chinese broccoli and string beans) were okay. Sticky rice was pretty good. Dumplings were okay. Nothing was outstanding, nothing was bad. Service was attentive. You can do better, but if you are nearby and don't want to drive to Chinatown or other locales, this place will do.

Arguably one of the two best dim sum restaurants in the DC/MD/VA area. Im particularly fond of the shrimp-wrapped crab claws and the turnip cake...all washed down with a pot of oolong tea.

We live near Wheaton and had heard there were several Chinese restaurants with very good dim sum on weekends. New Nam Fong came highly recommended, so we thought it was the one where we'd had dinner with a friend months ago. Four of us walked in on a Sunday morning soon after they opened. we were the first customers. Turns out it wasnt the place we'd been to for dinner, but hey, let's try this one.

The Chinese waitress brought 4 menus, but only one paper menu of dim sum offerings, none of which described the Chinese named items. We failed to get her eye, so one of us got more dim sum menus, and we continued to try to catch her eye to ask about the dishes. Two elderly Chinese men came in. Soon, there was lively conversation between the owner, the waitress and the old men. This went on for 5-6 mins, we were still irrelevant. So we got up and walked up the street to Good Fortune, where the large dining room was buzzing with tables of people, carts moving up the aisles, wonderful food. We were immediately seated, the cart ladies explained dishes, the food was excellent -- well, except for the fried/sauted chicken feet... The place got more crowded as churches let out, a black, brown, yellow and white clientele -- about as multi-cultural as you can get. We'll go back soon.

If you are visiting DC, Good Fortune is about 2 blocks from the Wheaton Metro station on the Red Line. Great value for families. Dim Sum on weekends.

Ok Chinese restaurant. Be aware, they use MSG even though they say no MSG. Talked to manager and he says THEIR cooks do not use MSG, but cannot vouch for the sauces that they buy to prepare meals. Bit of a legal mumbo jumbo cop out.

Parking is non-existent. It's street parking which can be problematic although there is a municipal lot a block away.

Food is tasty and above average compared to most Chinese restaurants.

Good Fortune has been our family's favorite restaurant to eat dim sum. We usually go after church on Sundays. If you arrive just around when they open you will get seated in one of the two rooms. Arrive any later and you most likely be put on a waiting list. We usually only eat brunch here but have ordered from the menu to add to our meal. The lobster Cantonese style is delicious.
