Carroll County Farm Museum

This is a nice summer afternoon attraction for a family with young children. Demonstrations of the way things were done on farms in the 1800's. Also yearly events that includes an Old Fashion Fourth of July with fireworks.

I don't think I'd make a special trip just to visit the Farm Museum (unless you're really into farm museums), but if there's something else going on (We were there for the pre-Fourth of July picnic), then there are some decent exhibits to look through. All of the exhibits we visited except for the blacksmith were just static displays, but it would seem that at least a few of them are set up to have actual people there explaining what they are working on. There's a broom-maker, maybe someone working on a quilt, and it looked like there might have been a woodworker at some point. The other displays were a little bit worn and dusty, but I guess that adds to the ambience. There is a small animal display (goats, chickens, turkeys) and a small playground. If you can catch it at a time when there is music, or fireworks, or the wine festival, then you will have a pretty good time.

Took the grandkids to show them my early life. I was raised on a farm in Carroll County and it is a true replica of living the farm life.

We live very close and are lifetime members, so we will go check out pretty much anything that is going on. The civil war encampment in May is always fun, as is fall harvest days in October. The Museum itself is educational about how the poor got along prior to welfare. It was an excellent idea for the county to preserve this interesting peice of history.
