Black Walnut Point Inn

The privacy afforded at this bed & breakfast made for a very relaxing stay. Although we went during the winter, we could envision the world of posiblities during a summer stay. Located very close to St. Michael's and Easton, it gives you entertaiment and dinner options when you want to venture out from the island. The innkeepers were very knowledgeable and were always ready to help. The view from all windows captured spectacular images of the Chesapeake Bay and Choptank River. The adjacent bird sanctuary just added to the natural setting of this unique island getaway.

My wife and I traveled to the Black Walnut Point Inn to relax into the new hear and our stay was extremely pleasant. All of the cabins have a great view of the Choptank River, and you can't help but see the Chesapeake or the Choptank wherever you look. The bonfire, wine and caviar were a great way to ring in the new year!

Thank you Bob, Tracy and staff!

Bob and Tracy are spectacularly friendly--from giving and mailing free postcards for you, to having a huge selection of movies, to apple cider, tea, and hot chocolate all day long, they do not miss a trick.

The special meal and bonfire made our New Years Eve especially festive. Plus, you can't beat the location--secluded on the very tip of the island/peninsula, you're less than 50 yards from the ocean and in the midst of a bird sanctuary. If you're outdoorsy, there are several wildlife refuges and areas within driving distance. You can also bring a bike--almost all the two-lane highways in the area leave ample room for bikes.

The Attic Room is nice and cozy--but if you're an extra tall person, I might go for a full-sized room! :)

We decided on New Year's Eve to take a trip on New Year's Day, and called BWP asking about availability. And viola!, I got Bob, whose enthusiasm and warmth was apparent, even on the telephone. I made our reservation and told Bob we'd be there bright and early the next day--I am so happy we decided to do it.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this gem of a B&B! Breathtaking views (more so I'm sure when the sky is clear, however, we had no complaints whatsoever). Also, being a bird sanctuary, we were delighted with the morning acrobatics displayed by many birds in flocks of between 30-40 at a time--it was so beautiful to watch. Make no mistake--we will be returning; and soon.

Our Innkeepers, Bob & Tracy were the ultimate hosts, it was like being at the home of very good friends; we were completely taken care of. Both are warm, charming, witty, interesting, energetic, and great conversationalists; and there was never a dull moment.

We got very lucky with the "group" that convened on this New Year's Day--we all got along swimmingly. There was much laughter and merriment among our "partners in wine!" Thanks so much for sharing dinner on New Year's evening, it saved us a trip into town--well to eat, at least. Hey, y'all, don't forget the pact we made about those tickets...and don't think I don't remember "every single one of you!" Tee-hee.

Our breakfast on Sunday morning was absolutely delicious (or should I drop the "de"? and just say, Licious!!)--thanks, Peggy, you rock!

We cannot wait until our next visit!

PS -- Erin and CJ, sorry you did not get to partake of our Scottish treat, however, we'll make up for next time. Take care.

Visit the nearby towns (St. Michaels, Cambridge) and enjoy the shops and restaurants. Bring binoculars to see the eagles and other wildlife. You're "off the beaten path" a little bit, so bring some food items so you don't have to drive to a restaurant every night. The "cabins" are a lot of fun, and you can cook and enjoy your privacy. Minimal "light pollution" out on the point, so you can enjoy fantastic star-gazing. Bob & Tracy are extremely courteous and helpful, as are Peggy and Erin. If you have a question or need anything...just ask.

My fiancé and I spoke with Bob via phone after being referred by a colleague to check out the B&B for a possible wedding location. Bob was extremely friendly as well as informative of past functions he and Tracy (other owner) had hosted at the inn. His personality was so warm and inviting so when he suggested we come for a visit to check out the space. We quickly decided that would be a great idea. Once we arrived the view, proximity to the water and the charm of the main house and luxury cottages were wonderful! However, I must admit the main factor we found to be outstanding was the graciousness of our hosts Bob and Tracy. We almost forgot why we originally came to visit (wedding recon mission (smile), because they treated us like we were old friends! We really enjoyed ourselves and have already decided this will be added to our travel repertoire.

My husband and I spent our 35th wedding anniversary at this wonderful bed and breakfast. What a great experience. The tastefully decorated home felt welcoming, warm, and peaceful. A very comfortable bed and room with spectacular view, excellent breakfast, and congenial hosts were icing on the cake. We left feeling relaxed, renewed, and uplifted.
