“The only thing good is the view”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2011

This restaurant has over priced mediocre to poor food. You can get over priced mediocre crab cakes and other uninspired fare in the fried seafood category. The service generally leaves something to be desired as well as the servers seem to be distracted and probably have more tables than they can handle. If you go for drinks you might have a better bet as the view is quite nice, especially from the deck on the water out back.

“Great View | Good Seafood | Broome's Island is Better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2011

In the summer, its really nice to sit outside on the pier. They often have (or used to have - don't know if they still do this) live music. The outdoor atmosphere ON THE WATER is what truly separates Solomon's Pier from all other competitors. The view can be breathtaking and for us, there's nothing else like eating seafood with family and friends on the water with strains of live Jimmy Buffet covers playing in the background.

We have been to Solomon's Pier SEVERAL times over the years. We had our wedding reception there in 1987. We had a mother's day there in 1990 with my grandmother and aunt who had flown in from the Netherlands. We've had several birthday and other celebrations there. Management has changed hands a few times. Its been our experience that the seafood there is good, not outstanding. The folks that currently own it also own Kingfisher's (also on Solomon's Island), Stoney's Seafood House on Broomes Island, and Stoney's in Prince Frederick. Of these four restaurants, Stoney's on Broomes Island is the best, though its our opinion that even their quality has come down over the years - perhaps as a result of dividing their span of control over multiple locations.

The crabcakes are decent (as locals, we're pretty picky!!); fresh fish is ok; crabs are good. As some of the other reviewers have indicated, it gets a bit more of a nightlife crowd later at night.

As I mentioned at the top of my review - we had our wedding reception there and it was a truly memorable experience. The wind was howling outside that day, with frothy whitecaps blowing up. Our wedding reception video made it appear as though we were dining and enjoying ourselves on a boat as the water flowed by...

In closing, I would say that if you're not overly picky about your seafood, but want warm ambiance out on the water, Solomon's Pier is the place to go.

“Pros and Cons”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2011

The view is outstanding; the restaurant juts out on the river. We sat in the bar, the room fartherest out, for the best view and we weren't disappointed....the sunset was gorgeous. However, the chairs are very high and once you get into them, it is difficult to get them close to the table...not good for older folks. All beverages, including alcohol and wine, were served in plastic glasses....what a shame. We started out ordering the Nachos on Land.....it was delicious. It was sooooo big, we shared it but didn't have room for an entree. We did have a very nice waitserver.

“don't miss the crab cakes at Stoney's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2011

If you are looking for delicious Maryland crab cakes, go to Stoney's on Solomon's Island, Maryland. About an hour south of Annapolis, it's well worth the trip. There is also a beautiful outdoor deck for dining right on the water.
