“Definitely Worth a Visit”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the River House in Sonw Hill, MD. This is an excellent location for touring the back roads of the lower eastern shore of MD and the VA eastern shore. All three restaurants in Snow Hill are within walking distance of the inn. We dined at the Harvest Moon and Palette. The bistro ambience and the food at the Palette were outstanding.
It would be difficult to find more gracious hosts than Rick and Dwane and their dog Teal. The breakfasts were excellent and fortified us for most of the day. You must try the waffles, which are out of this world. We stayed in the Thebaud (Tay bow) Room in the main house. This is one of the most comfortable B&Bs that we have ever stayed in. Worth a visit.

We stayed here several years ago and it was then a terrific property with great potential but sadly fraying at the edges.
It has improved dramatically in both maintenance and personality. If your idea of a Maryland B&B is one with precious antiques and Laura Ashley wallpaper this still may not be the place for you. We stayed in the Yacht Club room, with a working fireplace, whirlpool tub and a lovely covered porch overlooking the Pocomoke River. It was perfect, with one of the breakfasts I've ever had in a B&B.
The pool is of a nice size and heated so that you could still enjoy it in the first week of October. Everything about River House is clean, comfortable and friendly. One caution, it pays to like/love dogs.
There is a nice old dog on the premises and some rooms are dog friendly. We love dogs and wish we'd brought our own but if you're allergic or frightened of dogs it is a consideration.
The owners are attentive without being pests -- a problem at some B&Bs. Snow Hill itself is worth exploring over the course of a leisurely weekend.

This was our second stay at the River House in Snow Hill. Sadly, a short stay this time as we were in town for the Osprey Triathlon in Public Landing which required a very early morning departure. But the amazing blueberry muffins we got to enjoy fueled us for the race (perhaps all that yummy sugar on top!). We were surprisingly the only guests in the main house and enjoyed an upgrade to the "west" room. A very comfortable bed and nice room with private bath. Sorry we couldn't enjoy it longer.

On our previous visit in April 2011, we stayed in one of the outer cottages as we were traveling with our dog. It had a lovely view of the river across the large lawn (and the lawn was enjoyed by the dog.). The cottage (the one with 2 units) was a little more well-worn than the main house room, but fine for a country get-a-way. On that visit we had a great breakfast in the morning in the main house.

Not being much of a B&B stayer, it feels a little strange to be walking into someone's kitchen, but that's I guess that's part of what you get with B&B's.

Snow Hill is small cute town, we have enjoyed canoeing on the Pokomoke river, a trip out to Assateague Island, and dinner 2 of the 3 restaurants in town - recommend Palate for more upscale fine dining and Harvest Moon for standard fare with fun live music the night we were there.

This was the first time I've ever visited the Eastern Shore of Maryland, so didn't know what to expect and fortunately my wife had made all the arrangements for this trip - including the reservation at the River House Inn.

What an awesome surprise this was. I loved the area, but most of all I really loved staying at the River House Inn. The owners are friendly, but not intrusive, and I particularly enjoyed our lively and interesting late-night conversation in the kitchen.

The house has a few years on it, but since taking over the propery (a year or two ago?) the owners have made a number of improvements that have made the Inn a very comfortable place to relax. My room was big and I slept like a baby on the big bed. Breakfast was a particular treat.

I only spotted a small restaurant in Snow Hill, but there are a number of great places to eat and shops in nearby Berlin. If you want something more lively, Ocean City is just 30 minutes down the road but far enough so that it feels a world away.

Unfortunately, my wife didn't make this trip with me (nerves about my 17-year-old daughter driving from DC) but I'm already planning a trip when I can bring her with me.

Thanks guys for a great stay... Breakfast was fantastic and the location is to die for. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The hosts go out of their way to make you welcome. Best yet the river is at your back door a kayakers dream. If you like off the beaten path locales
Snow Hill is a must see. Teal is tops!
We will be back...

We stayed in the Ivy Cottage which has 2 bedrooms, a large living area and full kitchen. It was clean, comfortable and well furnished. The resident owners were friendly and very accomodating. The best part of the experience were the breakfasts each of our 3 mornings. My only complaint is that we ate too much.

Room Tip: The Ivy Cottage is great for 2 couples or a family.

My partner and I stayed at the River House Inn and enjoyed the warm hospitality of our hosts, Richard and Dwayne. Very comfortable room, lavish breakfasts, lots of locations around the house to relax and, of course, the wonderful pool to cool off after our bike and kayak trips in the area. Our hosts made sure of our comfort throughout the weekend.
