“Best meal of our trip and the least expensive!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

My husband is more adventureous than I am when it comes to spicy fare. At this Burmese restaurant, no one in our family had ever tried this type of cuisine. We asked the friendly staff for recommendations and all ordered noodles dish #6. The husband got his mildly spicy while our son and I ordered the dish with no spice added.
The textures combined for a delicious meal:
Thick noodles
Crushed peanuts
Mild pleasant sauce
Meat and veggies
Who could believe thus superb restaurant was also the cheapest on our trip?

“Exceptional Burmese Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

A wide variety of Burmese and other Asian fare spiced to taste and served in a friendly atmosphere -- if you are in Silver Spring go the extra couple of blocks to escape the suburban chains for this genuine find.

“Family Run Burmese Establishment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

I was introduced to this wonderful restaurant years ago and recently had an opportunity to go back. It's far from where we live but was worth the trek. Burmese cuisine is unique so if you think it will be like something you've had already, think again. Mandalay offers a plethora of options and they cater to different dietary restrictions and spice preferences. We had the samosa and lentil fritter appetizers which were great. Their salad are also worth trying as the ginger salad and the papaya salad are refreshingly tasty. The Burmese coffee is good and the dessert was good though the dessert options aren't plentiful or especially great. We each had a different entree all medium spiced. Most of the entrees come with a side of white rice which is standard. The service was fast and efficient so overall we had a great time.

“Terrfic Burmese”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Wonderful, unusual food with Southeast Asian flair. Very ameniable to any degree of spiciness of mildness as you like it. Very vegetarian friendly. Great service and nice atmosphere. Generous portions with a spice palate something like Indian, Thai, or Indonesian -- but truly unique. We plan to go often. Everyone in our party of six really loved everything we tried.

“Good food good service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

What more can you ask for? And close to downtown Silver Spring. We usually order the noodle dishes in the lunch set. Food are not as oily as some other places, which is a good sign. And the staff are always nice.
