I would visit this deli almost weekly when I lived in Bethesda 30 years ago. The sandwiches were monsterous, and the service was friendly. This week I visited again for the first time since back then and I was disappointed. I asked for latkes and received a knish instead. My corned beef sandwich was extra lean and had good flavor, but the amount of meat was less than in the past. This was also the case with my wife's liver wurst. Once upon a time, the liver wurst was stacked so high you could only eat half of the sandwich. I ordered a bagel with chives cream cheese - first they brought plain, then they brought veggie. After the second time I was told that they were out of chive cream cheese. Why not just tell me that from the start? This was 10:30am on Monday - you gotta be kidding me! Service was friendly, and our waiter brought us some pickles even though the pickle bar was not open yet. So, overall, the food is still good though served in smaller portions, and they are just not as first-rate as they once were.
