“Perfect Getaway from DC for Anniversary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2009

My husband and I recently stayed here to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary. We stayed at another Orient Express property for our honeymoon and the staff there recommended the Inn at Perry Cabin since it is close to our home in Northern Virginia. I was equally impressed by this property in MD as was to their La Samanna property in St. Martin. The staff is very friendly and helpful and accommodating. The Inn itself has a very B&B feel to it, but your room feels isolated and far away from any other guests. We often only saw other guest in the bar or restaurant during our stay. We stayed on a Sunday night to take advantage of their reduced weeknight rate. My only complaint would be the price - I would have loved to be able to stay more than one night if I could afford it! It is extremely relaxing to sit on your balcony or there are adirondack chairs out on the lawn overlooking the water. There are free bikes to ride into town and a spa onsite. I had a massage which was excellent and a good value for the price. The restaurant is comparable to any excellent restaurant in DC I have been to....our waiter put together a 5 course local seafood dinner for us despite the fact that it was removed from their menu. He also gave us champagne since we were celebrating, which was a nice touch. The rooms are quite large with working gas fireplace and a large bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. The Inn is walking distance to many great restaurants - crabs from the Crab Claw are a must, and the winery on the other side of town is fun to visit with a variety of wines to taste for a small fee. All in all - a nice relaxing weekend for a couple! I would go back in a second or visit another Orient property.

This hotel is beautiful. It is quiet and romantic. Staff was not friendly. The girl that checked us in was almost rude. The man that did the bags was really nice. very stuffy hotel. We have stayed in some very nice hotels and this was up at the top but a rude staff really ruins a stay.

We are pleased that this reviewer found the Inn at Perry Cabin "beautiful", "quiet and romantic". We are alarmed, however, that they found anything less than genuine warmth and comfort at the Inn. These remarks stand in stark contrast to the comments of the other reviewers and countless letters and comments from other guests mentioning our "wonderful" and "accomodating" staff. The Inn at Perry Cabin is firmly committed to providing warm and gracious hospitality and we very much regret that this reviewer may have received a different impression. We always welcome direct feedback during a guest's stay and we are dedicated to ensure excellence in every visit.

My wife, two teenagers and I just enjoyed a couple of days at the Inn. It was perfect...Everything from the moment we pulled up the driveway to the unfortunate time of departure...it was just what the dr. ordered. Understated elegance, great service, class and attention to detail..the team at the Perry Cabin get it!! Thank you for a great respite.

What a beautiful hotel in the perfect spot! We had a great time at this wonderful hotel and fabulous meals in the restaurant. We truly enjoyed our stay here from the great breakfast with a breath-taking view of the water to the 4 star dinner and the cozy afternoon tea by the fire. The staff could not have been more accommodating and made our stay feel truly special. Can;t wait to go back!

We've been going to the Inn for several years now, a few times each year. It is less than 2 hours away from home by car, but it is a world away from the daily cares of life. Our last visit was in the Fall of 2008. From the moment we drive down the long brick driveway, we know that we will be welcomed, pampered and greeted by name from all the staff. Our usual ritual is to walk out to the pier and bask in the quietness and beauty of this part of the Eastern Shore. We then stroll the grounds, walking along the pea-gravel path that crunches under our feet. We may spot a Blue Heron or a hummingbird, depending on the time of day and season of year. The grounds are magnificient--seemingly natural, but I know that it takes constant care. We've been there during all 4 seasons and all are beautiful.

The restaurant and lounge are both tops. Getting the center-view window table is always a treat, and allows you to watch the boats, birds and people enjoying the Miles River. Relaxing in the lounge with a fire going makes you want the evening to never end.

In the summer, we always look foward to taking a boat ride on the "Let It Ride" with Captain Don.

The staff are wonderful. They know which is our favorite room, and try to accomodate us every visit. We always look foward to seeing Joe, Ginny, Amanda, Nicole, LeeAnn, Carlie, Dan, Ron, Joanne, Vickie and all the others who make our short stays perfect!

  • Liked — The wonderful staff!!! They make our visits perfect.

My mother and I had a three-night holiday package over Christmas at this wonderful retreat. The decor is lovely; the epitome of understated elegance. Service was also excellent--not only in the dining room and bar, but housekeeping as well. And the food was superb. The spa is almost brand new and the services were sublime. We were looking for a quiet and picturesque spot to spend the holiday--the Inn fit the bill perfectly and we look forward to returning in warmer weather.

I've been to the Homestead and the Greenbrier but if you have a love of the water this is the place to go. The charm and luxury of The Inn at Perry Cabin is to be discovered. It's in the little town of St. Michaels MD. In town there are wonderful gourmet cafes and restaurants, unique shops and a watermans museum. You don't have to leave the Inn, you can set and watch the swans on the river , the sunsets and sunrises. The food in the restaurant is exceptional and the service world class.
