The hotel is located in the very cute town of St. Michaels on the Chesapeake Bay. The hotel was basic and the rooms seemed dated. The staff at the front desk was not helpful and seemed overwhelmed by a wedding that was taking place at the hotel on the same weekend we were there. On the other hand the wait staff in the two restaurant and club house were fantastic and extremely helpful.

Room Tip: They have 4 suites on the property that seem to have been recently updated. Try to book those if yo...

This resort's glory days seem to be in the past. There were very few people staying here mid-week. When the promised Wifi didn't work in the first room we had, we were quickly changed to another, which was cheerier and had a better view, in addition to the better reception. The room's yellow, blue and white color scheme was pretty, but there was just an air of out-dated-ness about the whole place. We had breakfast as part of our package; the dining room could have used some cheering up, and the windows needed cleaning. View was great. Food not so good - powdered (?) eggs, off-tasting o.j., unexciting melon fruit mix. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly.
My husband and I enjoyed the round of golf, even though we had to dodge early morning sprinklers on the fairways. Many of the holes were flat and mostly uninteresting, but the back 9 offered a bit more challenge and interest. The fairways and greens were all in excellent condition. Facilities were minimal at the pro shop; the only other restroom was at a small half-way snack shop.

Room Tip: If view is important to you, ask to see your room before you accept it.

The best thing about this resort are the amazing views...we had a waterfront room, and the view of the Chesapeake was absolutely beautiful! We arrived around 9:30pm on June 29th. I was surprised at how the poor attitude of the front desk clerk actually put my husband and I in a bad mood. I walked up to the desk and introduced myself. I explained that my husband and I were starving..."Is the restaurant open?" "No, it's closed". "What time does it close?" I asked. Clerk responded with "it's closed". I understood that, but I may want to come back tomorrow or the following day...she then responded with saying that it closes at "different times". She then told us the bar was open. We checked into our room, then came back to the lobby. As I walked by, I asked her if the bar served food. She said "no" and went back to what she was doing. She knew we wanted food!! So rude and unhelpful...a restaurant recommendation would have been appreciated. We then discovered that in this town everything closes early...mostly by 8pm. We luckily found a restaurant called "Big Rod". What a great meal!! Our waitress was unbelievably kind, food was amazing!! Really put us in a good mood!! All other staff we came into contact with at the resort were extremely kind and helpful. The pool was great, a short walk from our room. Room was bigger then expected, and very clean. Balcony with beautiful view was the best part! But keep in mind...St. Michaels is a sleepy town. Shops close at 5pm on Saturday, and restaurants close not long after. We would go back to this resort if we ever visited St. Michaels again. Surprising how a rude front desk clerk can really effect your visit!

Room Tip: The waterfront room is definately worth the extra cost! Beautiful view!

We didn't but as we walked around the property we can see the ones that would be the winners. We still lived the setting. We watched sunset everyday from the deck or chairs layer out around the property. Breakfast is underwhelming, it's best to head into town for it. The pool is nice but we had to walk a ways to it. Given that we had a child with us,this became annoying. There were no food or refreshment being served during snack times or near the pool. So you basically had to carry everything with you for meals or to the pool. Rooms are ok interns of decor. The setting is it greatest asset. Not sure we'll return, unless we get a good deal in the better placed rooms.

Room Tip: Anything in the tens

I spent three days at this hotel to attend a scientific meeting. We got there at around 9pm, which was after the restaurant had closed, but since we had warned the conference organizers we were nevertheless offered warm food to take to our room. The hotel's location is beautiful, on a small peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides. Rooms are ok, with a great view. Meals were included in the rate and food was ok. The place is good if one needs to work and stay focused for three days. If I wanted to visit the area I'd probably stay somewhere else in downtown St. Michaels.

We spent two nights here during a recent trip to the Eastern Shore.
Pros: Great location, very close to downtown St Michaels. Most of the rooms have a lovely view of the Chesapeake. The room had two full beds - so they could accommodate four adults (makes it much cheaper on a per-person basis). Parking is convenient. The grounds are well maintained, and the staff was courteous and helpful in general. When they made a mistake, they were quick to apologize. (someone at the desk told a person in our party that we need to pay a surcharge for the 'extra adults' even though our reservation clearly mentioned four adults. When I complained, they promptly took their surcharge request back and apologized for the error). WiFi was free and the signal strong.

Cons: The room and property itself was rather old and worn - felt more like a highway motel than a 'resort.' Walls are thin, and we could hear the party in the next room go on till 2am. Beds were a bit lumpy and not very comfortable.

Room Tip: Check beforehand the type of room you will be getting - it is a two-story building. While rooms in b...
