“Overpriced and outdated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

We paid $168 plus tax for a double. I would expect a hotel of this quality to be $109 or perhaps less. Be aware that some rooms are updated and others are not - but prices are all the same. We had a non-updated room and were asked to be moved. The updated room that we received was considerably better but that isn't saying much. As our 7-year old said, "it isn't in the west and it isn't the best." It is functional but a very poor value.

Stayed for three nights while attending a function at the Maritime Museum....it is not the Ritz but aside from a few strange housekeeping issues which were brought to the attention of the gals at the desk, the only real complaint was that each day the number of clean towels and washcloths got smaller and smaller. i thought the beds were comfortable and the breakfast more than adequate...much better than included breakfasts at Comfort and Sleep Inns that I have stayed in.
Would I stay there again, probably yes....if you are looking for a romantic weekend in St Michaels, then maybe you should look elsewhere, but this worked for us.

Room Tip: Ask for one in the back near the swimming pool

Stayed here one Saturday night. Is very much like a motor inn in look and feel. However, it was clean and functional. The staff (especially Lisa) were super friendly and accommodating - exemplifying what customer service should be. Lisa worked with us on an early entry (we would be preparing for a wedding party later that day). Turns out she was also promoted from the front desk to her first day at the breakfast area and she did a fabulous job of ensuring that the items were well stocked. If more employees there are like Lisa, the BW will do well in reviews. Also, the BW doesn't require the summer-season two night minimum rental as does other inns and B&Bs in the area. So, while it is not inexpensive, it's much less expensive than area alternatives.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. We had read some of the reviews so we weren't expecting to find such a nice place. Don't get me wrong, it is not plush and is need of some updating. But for the price it is excellent. Our check-in was nice, and she was friendly and engaged. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and bedding was updated. Furniture could be updated. Bathroom was clean. Room was quiet. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices and lovely place to eat outside and enjoy the weather. Check-out was smooth. We would stay there again, especially compared to the prices in all the other places we checked in St. Michaels.

As a kid my family often stayed in Best Western MoteIs, and while nothing fancy they were certainly good value for money and could always be counted on to be clean. Boy have times changed, especially at this one!!! The "special deal" is laughable. You could not pay me to stay there 3X in order to get a free night anywhere and I have to wonder if all Best Westerns are now as bad as this one.

I CANNOT BELIEVE this is even ranked as the #4 HOTEL in St. Michaels!!!! It if anything, is an over-glorified MOTEL and should be at the bottom of any list of places to stay in and around St. Michaels. We stayed there once a couple of years ago and NEVER AGAIN!!!! You hardly ever see many cars there on our many trips to Easton and St. Michaels and we found out why. It is outside of town and is outrageously priced for the bad MOTEL quality it is, To charge $50 would be pushing it and over $100 is out and out thievery, I don't care where the motel is located. They are just taking advantage of people who don't know any better. Its not like its even on the water. You would be better off sleeping in your car.

The rooms are very small and extremely musty and dank smelling as are the noisy air conditioners which labored to keep up with the summer heat. It was so bad I had an asthma attack and couldn't stop coughing the whole time we were there. If you didn't already have asthma you might after staying here. One wonders if they ever changed the air filters or cleaned the drapes. The rooms were suppose to be Non Smoking, but you could have fooled me. They didn't smell like the policy was ever enforced. The room was not clean. There were hairs on the towels and in the shower and the carpet was not fully vacuumed with dust that hadn't been touched in corners or near bed for ages. We had thought that since we weren't planning on staying in the room very much and would be out most of the time we could put up with the smaller room and lower quality but we were wrong. We were not able to get a good night's sleep with the saggy mattress and boxspring which ruined the weekend. I also ended up with intestinal problems, probably picking up something in the room which hadn't been cleaned properly, or the nearly inedible breakfast of seemingly at least day old hard pastries and bad coffee. We were not offered a hot option and that's probably just as well. After reading some of the other comments it seems that the local Health Dept. never inspects this place, but it should. To expect customers to clean their own rooms is ridiculous!! Needless to say my husband and I will NEVER set foot in that place again. I would try ANY other place in St. Michaels instead and you will have a better time. Don't waste your money here.

This not the cleanest room, there was a little dust on the ceiling, but we need extra towels and pillows they were quick taken care of. The breakfast meal was great, sausage, eggs, waffles and plenty of coffee and the ladies kept things coming. It was great weekend for the antique boat show and checking out the area. I told the hotel mistress about my complaints and she did her best to correct. I willing to try this again, definitely

Room Tip: There are very few King beds, check early if needed and unless you like steps, ask for ground floor.

Booked a room for the antique boat show and was disappointed upon entering the room. There was dust on the head boards and lamps (enough to write with) and the bathroom toilet had black mold spots. The sink had water spots and hair entwined into it. Upon complaining, I was told there was no staff available to remedy the situation, so they gave ME a towel and bottle of cleaning solution to clean the bathroom myself. The next day I was told the inspector was on premise and would remedy the situation. We returned late in the evening to find a still dirty bathroom, no replaced toilet paper and the dust remained.

Upon checking out, we found out that we got $40 total off of our bill for our troubles (and cleaning services). We will never stay here again.

Oh, and the breakfast was disgusting as well.
