We had lunch here while taking a break from our visit to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The food and service were both good. It had a little local color, which I like to find when I'm on vacation.

My husband and I had lunch here. We had the turkey reuben and fish tacos which were both excellent! The service was also very good and friendly. The place itself was a little strange and it may have been this particular day. The bar area was playing loud music which was reminiscent of a bachelorette party sing-a-long selection. The bartender was singing loudly which was kind of fun for one song but then kind of strange as it went on song after song. The place is not that big so it was a bit strange.

We were looking for a place for a good lunch with air conditioning. We saw a chalk board sign advertising ahi tuna sliders and fish tacos and thought that this would be the place. We walked into a funky restaurant with high ceilings and faux paintings. We dined in the restaurant. There was a bar, too. Both sides had big screen tvs with sports on. We sat down at a booth and our waitress came and got our drinks. Excellent iced tea with fresh lemon! We ordered the ahi sliders, a side of fries and fish tacos. The waitress came back and told us that they were out of fish tacos. I told her that they were on the chalkboard and she said that was old. She wasn't a particularly friendly waitress. We ordered a Cuban sandwich instead. The food came out quickly. The sliders had wonderful flavors and were delicious. My boyfriend really liked the Cuban. It was a little heavy for me. (I really wanted the fish tacos.) The fries were outstanding. They had a crispy coating and were not greasy. A side was plenty for two. It was a great lunch - good food, and a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere.

We stopped by the Carpenter Street Saloon (CSS) on Sunday, July 10th. Our server was just wrapping up two parties (10 and 6 guests.) when we arrived for our late afternoon lunch. She had no trouble offering exceptional service and took time explaining the basics menu options. Our appetizer was crab balls. The order is six gum drop size (slightly larger) crab balls with little breading. So little, that with a tap of a fork the crabmeat crumbled into a mound. With six crab balls in our order, two people should not split such a small snack. Our entrees were burgers and fries. Food was good (not great) and our time at the CSS was pleasant. Our recommendation of CSS is based on reliability and our server who demonstrated the St. Michaels charm is a constant reminder of how hospitality is their constant redeemable asset.

Strolling St. Michaels, absolutely starving, good smells brought us in. Not a lot of tables, but when all the local business people in town eat there on a week day, it's likely pretty good. And it was - crab cake sandwich for my hubby and fried rockfish (striped bass) sandwich for me; delicious sweet potato fries shared. One of the coolest things is the walls of the dining room - painted in trompe l'oeil fashion to look like brick and windows looking out over the water - VERY realistic. Would definitely eat there again, if in town.
