My husband and I have eaten at Ava's on a few occasions. Yesterday, Sunday, we decided to visit again. We arrived around 12:45p, the bar was empty which is unusual and only a couple tables occupied. I figured it was the off season, February. We sat at a high table next to the window and within 20 minutes, every table was filled including the bar. They also have seating upstairs, which is where they began to sit people. I had a glass of Paringa Shiraz, good wine, average pour - $8. My husband had a bloody Mary, he had to stir before each drink because it was thick. He said he has never had a Bloody Mary so thick before but claimed it was delicous. I ordered two mama's meatballs which came in a cute little dish and the meatballs were covered in mozarella - very good, healthy size - $3 each. My husband ordered six oysters on the halfshell. He enjoyed them, however, I thought they were small but I'm not an oyster fan so probably not the right person to judge - $8. We split the specialty pizza which was good size for two people, barbeque chicken and bacon. The pizza was amazing, as is all the pizza's we have tried there in the past - $17. Our total bill came to $51.39. Some might think that's a bit steep for lunch but seems reasonable considering it was for two drinks, two appetizers and a pizza. We were very comfortable when leaving, in fact, we ate light snacks for dinner instead of a full meal. The staff are always friendly, clean restrooms and is within walking distance to shops and the winery is within a few minutes drive. Nice day trip. They do have outdoor eating when the weather is warmer.
