Owner description: Each time you experience the Chesapeake Bay with us, you’ll find something different. Be sure to talk to our Shipwrights and apprentices in our Shipyard for insight into their current work in progress. Additionally, CBMM offers changing exhibitions, educational programs, boat rides on the Miles River, small craft rentals, and annual festivals celebrating Chesapeake Bay culture, boats, seafood, and history. With a waterfront, park-like setting, including numerous outdoor and indoor exhibitions, a Museum Store (with an ATM machine), and a member’s marina, you’ll find us on the Miles River in the heart of the historic town of St. Michaels. With two-day general admission, we encourage you to take a harbor-side stroll over Honeymoon Bridge to enjoy unique shopping, delicious dining, and fabulous lodging experiences. And be sure to check out the local brewery, winery, and distillery, and other town-wide events.

Our son's rehearsal dinner and wedding were at the Museum in the small boat shed. It was the perfect place to be, with gorgeous water views, accessibility, landscaped with flowers, lots of character, clean facilities and a wonderful staff who made sure everything was ready for us and beautiful. The Museum itself, with boats and descriptions of their uses, is fascinating. Liz Cowee, event coordinator, was great to work with and attentive to every detail---what a hard worker!

This was a very interesting and fun day trip on our way from Rehoboth Beach, DE to Gettysburg, PA We found this museum on the things to do listing on Trip Advisor and set the GPS to take us there.

This is a working waterfront museum with great history displays as well as working displays on boat building and restoration, fishing, oystering, crabbing, and a nice display of different kinds of boats on the Chesapeake Bay then and now.

If you go be sure to take the optional trip on the Buyboat. The volunteers operating the boat are full of information and very entertaining. We had to stop and remember to look at the scenery from the water as we watched and listened to them.

Admission includes two days entry and I can see how you could spend the good part of two days there exploring, learning and watching the displays and the volunteers doing their thing.

The museum store is also very nice and well worth the visit on the way out.

We plan on coming back there when we have more time to stay in the St. Michael's area.

My wife and I visited this Musuem recently. It consisted of roughly 14 or so buildings. We found the history of the Bay Area to be very interesting. It took us roughly 3 to 4 hours and was a wonderful historic adventure on an enjoyable Fall Day.

The cost was $12 per person for those of 62 years of age and older.

Spread over dozens of period buildings this landmark museum gives a brief overview of Chesapeake history and daily life. Everything from Native Americans to lighthouse keepers (both now extinct)

This museum is awesome. What a find. There are many individual exhibits housed in various buildings, plenty of space to lose yourself in history and a beautiful setting. We had a great two hour tour on our owned and certainly recommend this for all ages.
