Description: Tucked away in a 22-acre nature preserve just fifteen minutes from Georgetown, Tower Oaks Lodge has the look and feel of an authentic Adirondack lodge. Divided into four dining rooms, the Lodge contains a vast collection of art and artifacts such as vintage canoes and row boats, and antique saddles and trophies. Chef Jeffery Eng, formerly of 1789 Restaurant, presides over the kitchen team featuring a menu of great American saloon-style food. The Lodge offers the freshest seafood, locally-grown seasonal vegetables, pastas, and salads, as well as Clyde's classics such as cheeseburgers and chili.

This restaurant is in one of the nicest settings. It is a very large facility, with two nice bars and different rooms with different themes and really nice artwork and/or views. It also has 3 large fireplaces. The owners did a lot of work to make the restaurant a very impressive building.

Oh yes, the food is very good. I had the jumbo lump crabcakes with corn and potatoes. The crab cakes and corn were terrific, and the potatoes were just OK. I started with a house salad, which was on the small side and just OK as well. They have a nice wine list, but it would help if they increased the number of wines available by the glass.

Overall, a visually impressive place to go for dinner and the food was really good.

It's Crab Cake month at Clydes! (July). Don't miss these benchmark crab cakes. Compare them to any other crab cake in Maryland and don't even bother trying crab cakes in any other state!

Clyde's presentation on a corn and tomato salad is the epitome of summer. The service was excellent, as usual.

My husband and I live closer to another Clyde's restaurant, but will drive out of our way to go to the Tower Oaks location because their menu is more creative and offers a wider choice of entrees. This is a classic American restaurant that responds to seasonal specials, offering a different featured item at a reduced price each month. This month it's crab cakes, one of my favorites, and it's a generous portion with either one or two crab cakes.
The ambience at Tower Oaks is also remarkably cosy considering the vast size of the whole place. It is divided into separate rooms with different environments. Even if you don't love animal heads looking down on you, be sure to check out the Adirondack Lodge room in the back - it is really special
